| Good show, it was clear that all the big names had opponents who didn't have shit for them, I am not including Torres because he has fallen off so far since his WEC days, I like the names they have and look forward to more fights. | |

| I don't think Torres has fallen off much at all. He should still be in the UFC. There are a lot more good guys for him to fight now and Moreas is dangerous and has noticeable progression in the last couple of years. The playing field is leveled. | |

| My thoughts on the paydays. I think Ray Sefo being a long time pro fighter and someone involved behind the scenes with combat sports is doing a good thing by sendig a message that there is a decent, competitive, and logical payday out there for good fighters floating around outside of Zuffa. Pretty much everyone on the card got a pretty decent paycheck, and I would be surprised if Travis Bartlett did not get more than $4,000 for standing and banging with Sponge when 7 other pro fighters, including Houston Alexander, turned down the fight. The total payout was $352,000 or about 1/10 of what affliction payed out. They probably make very little money at the venue, but they were able to run a couple of hundred commercials on the broadcast which should help cover some of it. They probably planned to operate at a or near a loss though with this being the first show. They got what they wanted though which was something exciting enough to get a little attention. $30,000 + $30,000 for the main event fighter seems about right for something like this, and sure sounds a lot better than AA getting $500,000 to fight Ben Rothwell like Affliction did. The full WSOF 1 payouts include: Andrei Arlovski: $60,000 (includes $30,000 win bonus) def. Devin Cole: $10,000 Anthony Johnson: $55,000 (includes $25,000 win bonus) def. D.J. Linderman: $10,000 Marlon Moraes: $12,000 (includes $6,000 win bonus) def. Miguel Torres: $18,000 Tyrone Spong: $27,000 (includes $7,000 win bonus) def. Travis Bartlett: $4,000 Tyson Steele: $10,000 (includes $5,000 win bonus) def. Gregor Gracie: $25,000 Brian Cobb: $12,000 (includes $6,000 win bonus) def. Ronys Torres: $12,000 Steve Carl: $16,000 (includes $8,000 win bonus) def. Ramico Blackmon: $10,000 Josh Burkman: $16,000 (includes $8,000 win bonus) def. Gerald Harris: $15,000 Gesias "JZ" Cavalcante: $14,000 (includes $7,000 win bonus) def. T.J. O'Brien: $5,000 David Branch: $16,000 (includes $8,000 win bonus) def. Dustin Jacoby: $5,000 Now, the usual disclaimer: The figures do not include deductions for items such as insurance, licenses and taxes. Additionally, the figures do not include money paid by sponsors, which can oftentimes be a substantial portion of a fighter's income. In other words, the above figures are simply base salaries reported to the commission and do not necessarily reflect entire compensation packages for the event. http://mmajunkie.com/news/31429/worl...1-salaries.mma | |

| I thought it was a pretty good show. They kept the fights coming fairly quickly. You had 3 of 4 fights on the main card end by TKO or KO and the other fight was a competitive decision. Decent payouts, hopefully they continue to put out quality shows with quality fighters. Plenty of talent out there. | |

http://mmajunkie.com/news/31429/worl...1-salaries.mma these aren't particularly good paydays if they only fight twice a year. arlovski, johnson and spong should be able to survive ok but without significant sponsorship or other full time jobs, i don't see how the other guys could live and pay for training expenses.

| Well alot of the guys with the smaller payouts are fighting more then twice a year. This was Dave Branch's 3rd fight this year for example and he fought 5 times in 2010(only twice last year). This was also JZ and Ronys Torres 3rd fight this year. I'm sure all of them have some kind of sponsorship as well. | |

i often think that when i see how little a lot of the lesser known guys make for UFC fights. You really got to love what you do. Most of them prefer scrapping by doing something they love rather then sitting behind a desk all day while their soul slowly dies. Enjoying what you do goes a long way.

I hope it's enough for NBC Sports to air WSoF 2.

| http://mmajunkie.com/news/31530/world-series-of-fighting-draws-82608-gate-for-inaugural-event.mmaWorld Series of Fighting 1 generated $82,608.22 in live gate revenue on 1,499 tickets sold. A total of 4,076 free or "comp" tickets were issued for the event. MMAjunkie.com ( www.mmajunkie.com) requested and today received the figures from the Nevada State Athletic Commission. WSOF 1 took place Nov. 3 at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The event's main card aired live on NBC Sports Network. The gate figure represents an average of $55.11 per ticket sold. The card was headlined by ex-UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski, who earned a first-round TKO victory over Devin Cole. The co-main event saw UFC vet Anthony Johnson send D.J. Linderman crashing to the canvas with a one-punch knockout in the first round of their light-heavyweight meeting. The NBC Sports Network-televised main card averaged 198,000 viewers, as MMAjunkie.com earlier reported. The network, formerly Versus, had not televised MMA since 2010. As MMAjunkie.com also previously reported, the total payroll for WSOF 1 was $325,000, including $60,000 for Arlovski and $55,000 for Johnson. WSOF matchmaker and executive Ali Abdel-Aziz on Friday told MMAjunkie.com that the promotion's next event is not likely to take place on Jan. 26, where it would go head-to-head with UFC on FOX 6, but in February or March at a date to be determined. | |
