| For getting me into American Football. I love watching it now. Seen 2 excellent games the past week involving the Manning brothers. |

| Fun fact. There are 21 players from Australia playing division 1 college football this year. 19 of them are kicker/punters. | |

| didn't the cowboys use to have a black punter that was really big and athletic, used to be capable of making plays on special teams? | |

They had this white dude a couple years ago that was jacked up and would even play on kick coverage and make tackles. Don't remember a black Cowboys punter.

This guy was there from 09-11. Probably the same guy though, I don't remember anyone like him before in Dallas.

| Why don't they tackle players instead of just pushing them or bumping them? I mean when people are running the ball. Very few actual tackles. |

It's the pussification of the game that has taken place. You can't hit them too high, can't pull them down from behind, can't hit them if they don't see you coming, if it's a QB you can't hit them high or low, you can't even brush the helmet with your hand by mistake. You can't lead with your helmet. They have a lot of rules when it comes to tackles. Gay shit.

| That and tackling has gone to shit at all levels of football. Everyone wants to lay down a big hit, no one wants to wrap up. No technique. | |

I don't know if you read the stats on Buehler but he out performed some of his teammates who play linebacker in the NFL right now.

Don't listen to OU on this Freak, the game is more violent then ever, the increase in these brutal hits, and the resulting injuries is the reason for all these rules.

Much better explanation. But also factor in that everyone wants to force a fumble nowadays as well. Watch how often guys are ripping at that ball. This was not seen 10 yrs ago. Now it's a constant. I think u also need to consider who is doing the takling, if it is a cover corner(ie a small defensive back) he wants nothing to do with a big RB rumbling his way.

| Oh, and yes, American Football is indeed a great game. Best game in terms of television viewing by a good margin. And the only major US sport with a short season, thus making regular season games actually matter. | |

I'm far from alone when using that phrase. There is a large percentage of former players that would agree.

U mean the same guys involved in class action suits against the NFL because of concussions? I'll trust my eyes on this one. Even with the rules, the game is more violent then ever. Just look at the # of huge hits. U just didn't see hits like this years ago. Ronnie Lott was THE guy delivering these big hits over the middle hits. Now u see it in every college game, let alone pros. Concussions ALL OVER THE PLACE. Dudes getting KO'd ALL OVER THE PLACE.

| I'll just disagree. I don't think concussions are any more prevalent, just more talked about. | |

Look how many guys who have been flat KO'd this year. Ohio St qb, Oakland WR, Charger db that same week, Josh Cribbs, kid at Tulane, RU backup fb on a kick return. Top of my head in half a season. I think it is plain that big hits are MUCH more frequent then they used to be.

| Yo Freak, you might like this. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/jets-sign-former-rugby-player-hayden-smith-active-163758221--nfl.htmlThe New York Jets made an intriguing addition to their 53-man roster on Saturday when they terminated the contract of veteran wide receiver Jason Hill and promoted tight end Hayden Smith from the practice squad. As Rich Cimini of ESPN New York notes, the 27-year-old Smith played rugby professionally in England before deciding to give American football a try during the offseason. The 6-foot-7, 240-pound Smith worked with former University of Minnesota coach Tim Brewster before officially signing with the Jets on April 9. Brewster coached tight ends at the North Carolina and Texas, as well as with the Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers at the NFL level, coaching former Kent State basketball star Antonio Gates when he entered the NFL in 2003. | |
