Nick Cannon to announce Ward vs. Dawson

When super middleweight champ Andre Ward defends his championship against light heavyweight champ Chad Dawson on Sept. 8 (HBO) at the Oracle Arena in Ward's hometown of Oakland, Calif., we won't hear "Let's get ready to rumble" from Michael Buffer during fighter introductions.

Buffer will be in Moscow working as the ring announcer for Vitali Klitschko's heavyweight title defense against Manuel Charr, which HBO will show on same-day tape delay on the live Ward-Dawson telecast.

Boxing's other star ring announcer, the "Classy" Jimmy Lennon, also wasn't available because he will be working in his primary role as ring announcer for a Showtime card the same night in Las Vegas, which features welterweight titlist Randall Bailey defending against Devon Alexander.

So promoter Dan Goossen, on a suggestion from his wife, Debbie, hired Nick Cannon -- award-winning actor, comedian, multimedia mogul and TV and radio show host and all other things Hollywood -- to do the honors.
Cannon, best known as the host for the popular NBC reality TV show "America's Got Talent," was happy to do it. He's a big boxing fan.

"As a huge fight fan and follower of the sport, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be the ring announcer and introduce these two incredible fighters to the fans at Oracle Arena and everyone watching live at home on HBO," Cannon said. "It's going to be an unforgettable event."

Is this good ? All I know about Nick is that he's married to Mariah, and I vaguely recall a skit about Nick in The Chappellle Show.

this is just fucking odd, it would be like getting Arsenio Hall to announce a fight in the early 90's.......actually Arsenio is way cooler than Nick Cannon
