So, what does Swedish mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight Reza Madadi do in between cage fighting appearances? Hobbies include kayaking, eating out and saving German tourists from drowning.

All in a day's work.

"Mad Dog," who abandoned his goal of becoming a firefighter to train as a professional butt-kicker, jumped into the ocean near Hornsberg when he noticed a toddler fall from a nearby pier.

Kimura.se has the UFC press release:
Quote :

[Madadi] had been kayaking in the Stockholm Archipelago and was about to buy lunch at a restaurant in Hornsberg, when he witnessed a child of one and a half years old falling from a nearby pier into the sea. The child’s father quickly dove in to help save his son.

Madadi, a former aspiring fireman, immediately jumped into the water and saved both father and child from the turmoil of waves and rapid currents.

A bystander who was very impressed with the performance of the athlete could conclude "If Reza hadn’t been there that boy would have drowned. One person wanted to take pictures of Reza with the father and the son, but Reza humbly declined, with respect to the family’s emotional status."
Madadi, who joins Goran Reljic as one of the UFC's heroic Aquamen, was last seen choking out Yoislandy Izquierdo at the UFC on FUEL TV 2 event back on April 14 in his hometown of Sweden. He's currently booked to throw down opposite Cristiano Marcello at the UFC 153 pay-per-view (PPV) event on Oct. 13 in Rio.
