| Holy shit the Lakers made a fantastic move. They're going to give Miami & OKC a run for their money. | |

| Kobe is a ball stopper and he demands the ball a lot...so there is a reason why he never had a high assist point guard.
That's not meant to be a knock. You pass the ball to Kobe, there is a good chance he'll score but burn enough time and make enough movement for it to not qualify as an assist...and Kobe aint one to cut to the hoop so you can hit him for open layup and he's not the spot up type.
Fact is, Kobe don't need great point guards. Michael Jordan didnt need great point guards. These guys are playmakers. They create their own oppurtunities and create them for teammates. All they really need is a defensive minded point guard who can hit open shots...kind of like Mario Chalmers is right now...or what Derek Fisher used to be 10 years ago.
Nash will add a scoring boost and hit open shots. The defensive hole remains...but for this trade to truly put the Lakers back in the discussion..Kobe will have to play decoy more than he ever has in his career and let Nash play with Gasol and Bynum. This way, you can get the best Nash...make the game easier on Bynum and Gasol..and Kobe can take over when he needs to. Kobe eventually needs to sacrifice some shots and possessions...or this isnt going to work as well as it could. | |
