Bellator's 'Road to the Championship' airs during this week off

Bellator Fighting Championships takes its customary "off week" this week, and instead of a live show airs a "Road to the Championship" highlights special.

The half-hour-long special airs Friday at 8 p.m. ET on MTV2 (and in HD on Epix2).

It recaps the organization's quartet of season-six tournaments, all of which conclude in the next few weeks.

In this season's 12-week Bellator run, tournaments were held in the bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight, welterweight and middleweight tournaments. Each winner gets $100,000 in total pay and a guaranteed title shot.

The "Road to the Championship" special, hosted by Sean Wheelock, Jimmy Smith and Manny Rodriquez and featuring special guests Rick Hawn and Nate Quarry, reviews Bellator's season-six tournaments and looks ahead to the tournament finals.

The schedule of tournament finales includes:

Bellator 68 (May 11): Marlon Sandro vs. Daniel Straus (featherweight tourney finale)
Bellator 70 (May 25): Maiquel Falcao vs. Andreas Spang (middleweight tournament finale)

The welterweight tournament final will be scheduled following Bellator 67's semifinal bouts of Bryan Baker vs. Ben Saunders and Karl Amoussou vs. David Rickels. The bantmaweight tournament semifinals have yet to be scheduled but feature Hiroshi Nakamura vs. Travis Marx and Marcos Galvao vs. Luis Nogueira.

Finally, Hawn meets Brent Weedman in the season-six lightweight tournament finale. The date for that bout has yet to be released.

If that is how you base your opinions on fighters, do what you do. I personally enjoy the process of watching MMA, call me crazy.

I donno, if you really think the dudes in Bellator are significantly better than Nick Ring, Court McGee etc I'd just as soon trust google honestly.

There are certainly guys in Bellator that are higher caliber fighters then both those men.

Not by much. I trust my eyes which told me Strikeforce fighters were on par with UFC guys and the WEC LW's were on par with the best in the UFC.
