| Gay, Thiago isn't half the fighter or a tenth of the legend. | |

| I am going to try this without insulting anyone who disagrees with me but does anyone actually think Thiago is a significantly better fighter or fight than Lil Nog? | |

| I think Lil Nog is better than Thiago Silva...Silva has offered the world zero evidence that he is as good, let alone better. | |

| Well the only thing Thiago does better is pure aggression. I wouldn't even give Thiago the nod on pure punching power because Minotoro has knocked out a better caliber of fighter in his time. But Gustaffson probably beats Thiago as easily as he does Minotoro. He's just too good at sniping from the outside, and while Thiago might have the edge in grappling over Alexander it's unlikely he can get it there before he gets blasted. | |

| I think Lil Nog is the better striking, but Thiago has the better takedowns and will be more committed to the takedown then Nog would be. This is harder style fight for Gus. | |

With a bad back... Is Lil nog going to hold him down the first 2 rounds like reshad did?

| Only Brazilians are allowed to repeat the camp injuries. Thiago looked as good as he did in any fight in his career. Was he also pissing with a wizzinator for that fight? Thiago throws slow loopy bombs, Nog is a crisp straight puncher. This is a MUCH easier fight for Gus. | |

| Going up against one of the strongest guys in the division who will try to grapple isn't going to be an easier matchup for him | |

| Thiago's takedowns are not that much better, he just has more dangerous GnP from within guard and from top position. But Thiago hasn't fought in what, six years now right? and he will also be under extra commission scrutiny and thus not able to do what he was at the very least doing last time. And he trains at ATT which I will always hold against guys in top five fights. Nog however has had regular fights against top ten or otherwise solid competition and wouldn't have been rusty, and comes from the best place arguably in MMA to train. He isn't on a big win streak by any means but a win over Ortiz and then the next best thing to a true next best thing in the division would make him about as qualified as anyone else to be butchered by Jon Jones. Thiago however win or no win would not be a suitable opponent. He hasn't been relevant or even had a fight since Jon Jones was calling him a bitch and still calling him out to build his name on. (bizarre to think that Thiago's last fight came when Jones was still a prospect looking to fight names, before he murdered the universe and possibly Chuck Norris)
This fight went from what was essentially a number 1 contender type fight to a non event in my mind. Thiago isn't anywhere near a title fight in Undisputed 3, nevermind the real world. Nog or Gus however would have been basically the best fight they could make short of Hendo.

| #1 contender fight? Nog just got done looking like a turd sandwich 3 fights in a row before beating Tito | |

| But he would have consumed Gus's soul in a main event and jumped way up in line just like Melvin(and later the guys who beat him) when he killed Dunham, or like Nate Diaz did with his last win. He also has a solid Pride name. Like I said, no big winning streak but if he did it impressively, other than Hendo, who is there? More likely though, if Nog won, he would be then given one of pile of former champs first like Shogun or maybe a rematch with Bader. But still, he wouldn't be more than one more fight away from a title shot. Gus if he wins, will probably be gifted a shot either way, but the fight has a lot less mutually on the table with Nog out and Wizzinator in. | |

| Rogerio and Gus was no where near a #1 contender fight. It was a hey I'm worthy of being top 10 in 2012 fight. Gus is basically in the position Silva was in 14 months ago, already for many or on the cusp of being legit top 10. Maybe some people were on vacations from MMA then But Silva is a beast. This match is equally good as it was when Rogerio was in but now twice as intriguing. | |

Dana was hellafide talking like Gus is the next guy in line actually. Soooo you'd be flat the fuck out wrong there. But it's cool. Rogerio is a better fighter, a better striker, a better name, and isn't coming off a lay off induced by roids. This sucks. Your opinion is a product of hardcore opinion being super imposed onto the reality. I don't even think much of Gus as a fighter, but him being on a main event says something. All too often internet nerd communities like ours forget how the fight game actually works. Tunnel vision.

| Oh so a promoter, Dana White the Promoter, hyped up a native fighter for a home game main event, I'm so wrong. Did you read about that on UFC.com h core? | |

| I don't like UFC.com that much really. Think I seen it post fight after dude's last win. Dana saying he thinks he might be ready for Jones or something else utterly outlandish. There are not a lot of fresh faces Jones hasn't already killed left. After Rashad and Hendo, there isn't much else out there. This once stacked division is pretty shallow. And really, if Silva does beat Gus, he may even be one or two more fights away himself, roid issues and suspension or not. This division is real short on guys Jones hasn't already blown out of the water. | |
