But regarding your comment I would agree. BJ was the long reigning LW Champion and legend so he deserved his rematch. Also maybe it's because BJ has more fans but that dec seemed to be much more controversial. Also it's hard to say a fight ending in a draw doesn't need to be run back. Also your point of the LW division not being in any position right now for another rematch. Frankie has proven to be a tough fighter to score.

Yeah, I can see that. Frankie is a good dude. I should probably root for him more then I do. Dude really doesn't get his due, I'm guilty of that myself.

I think the fans want to see it. It was fight of the night. Listen, even if these guys want to see me get beat up, I do get beat up in a lot of my fights, even in the fights I win, so it's win-win for everybody. I think the rematch makes sense on several levels. Not only can UFC be good guys, I think I earned it. Economically, they've been investing money in me. I've been at the helm of this weight class for two years now. I think it just makes sense for them and obviously for me. Let's do it."

I like the enthusiasm and the classy way he's going about this. But it's time for someone else to get a well deserved shot as well. Pettis may have lost to Guida, but Guida is a bad matchup stylistically. When dealing with someone who is 100% dedicated to the takedown it's hard to look good even in a loss. Pettis was considered the #1 contender after Maynard originally and only lost that status because:
A) Maynard and Frankie fought to a draw B) He chose to stay active in light of A
The fact is Pettis is the last guy to beat Bendo, and it was just over a year ago that he beat Bendo. With a spectacular showing over the guy who took Guillard out of the title picture it's hard to not make a case for him.
I'm sure Edgar finds his way back to a title fight with a win or two anyway.

Frankie vs Florian. Seems like beating Kenny always gets you a title shot.

IF they went Guida, his recent resume would be Frankie, Bendo, Pettis, Gomi. Even tougher then his previous stretch of Nate Diaz, Diego, Kenny.

Sweet. Aldo vs Hioki while Frankie heals up. Then Frankie gets his crack at the winner. He can always go crawling back to his original weight class like Diego and Kenny.

"I feel like Frankie Edgar absolutely deserves a rematch [against Ben Henderson], seeing as how every time this guy has fought, he's given everyone else a rematch," he said. "Yet, I don't want him to fight at 155 pounds, I want him to go to 145 and fight for that title. And if we do give him a rematch, it clogs up [the division] -- there are other guys that are in line waiting and it's just a big mess."

In the opinion of many he got gift decisions versus BJ and Gray. So he should be thankful he got the decisions and only had to give rematches. Just another way to look at it.

I wasn't aware the rematches were optional? Don't most fighters stick by the "whoever they tell me"?

I'm not aware of Anderson ever saying no to a Chael fight? Also not aware of him ever taking a fight with someone else when that fight is on the table?
