| Sunita Rappi from Reuters reported today on news from Afghanistan, where the country will have their first female boxing team with 2012 Summer Olympic Dreams. Training in a gym that was converted from a Taliban punishment center, these two ladies plan on making history and battling harsh stereotypes and ethical problems in their very conservative Muslim world. The gym is in desperate need of funding, as the ladies lack a boxing ring to properly train in, as well as updated equipment. Under the Taliban regime, all sports for women were banned, so these boxers are fighting an uphill battle before any of them set foot in an arena. Check out the short video above to see the ladies in action. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=9ZnM2yrWLtY | |
