The first world championship fight card in January 2012 comes on January 14 in Offenburg, Germany when WBO super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz (40-2, 23 KOs) defends his belt against Henry Weber (15-0-1, 3 KOs). Former middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (32-3, 26 KOs) will also be on that card against Pablo Oscar Natalio Farias (19-1, 11 KOs).
On January 20 at the Palms in Las Vegas, WBA super bantamweight champion Rico Ramos v(20-0, 11 KOs) defends against WBA interim belt holder Guillermo Rigondeaux (8-0, 6 KOs) in what is probably the most interesting world title fight of the month.
Finally on January 28, IBF lightweight champ Miguel “Titere” Vazquez (29-3, 13 KOs) makes the third defense of his belt against Ameth Diaz (30-10, 21 KOs) at a site to be named in Mexico.
January 28 was also the date scheduled for WBC super lightweight king and future hall of gamer Erik “Terrible” Morales to defend against Danny Garcia in Houston, but that bout was pushed back to March 24 after Morales had to undergo emergency gall bladder surgery the week before Christmas.
