- I think, because I don't have good training. I have only one trainer. And that's wrestling, they were helping me with technical wrestling. But I don't have a conditioning trainer, I don't have a standup trainer, I don't have a jiu-jitsu trainer. I don't have any good sparring partners, high level. I don't have a nutrition(ist). I don't know what all these other fighters have. I mean, I think there's a huge (room for) improvement there. Next fight I'm going to train in the US with a good camp.

| Wow he's this good and he's getting by with just talent alone. He's going to be a beast in a few years. Watch out Jones & Anderson. | |

| Mousasi is the shit. He's got plus stand up, killer instinct, good BJJ, and ever improving wrestling.
I think he could be a true contender at either weight class.

I dunno if he needs to drop. He has never struck me as a small 205.

| what i saw from Mousasi last night impressed the hell out of me, and if he was to land in a team like AKA or Jacksons? the sky is the limit! and if he was to get a decent nutritionist he would easily make the MW limit, where i think he should be fighting in the first place | |

| id think the wrestling coach was only hired recently as well, due to the criticism of his TDD. Gegard has always been a freelancer. He has trained with Fedor, Golden Glory, and GSP but im sure none of those guys were any more than sporadic sparring partners for particular camps. Mousasi has always been kind of a lone wolf and he's still a young guy that has truly been getting by against good competition solely on talent and experience.
Mousasi actually reminds me a lot of Nick Diaz earlier in his career. He does not understand the judging in the states..which he has more of an excuse not to understand than Diaz ever did due to always fighting under international style judging. He does not see why a takedown is such a big deal over damage. It shows in his patience even when he's behind or not delivering to his potential. He sometimes fights like he's on an endless clock.
Mousasi is one of, if not the best striker at 205 or 185(he is the best bar none, according to King Mo). He is one of the few guys in MMA that can do serious damage striking off his back, he has strong submission grappling. If he stays healthy and keeps training hard, he has a good decade left in the sport at a high level, which he is already at. I also believe with his size and strength, wrestling won't be a problem for him in the future as long as he attempts to try to defend takedowns. I think he's extremely condident in his striking, sweeps and submissions that he chooses not to wear himself out defending takedowns. If you watch his fights, it's obvious he concedes to takedowns due to his confidence is those skills or he simply does not want to wear himself out defending. Even the OSP fight, Mousasi pretty much fell down for OSP on the one takedown OSP completed.
Gegard's problems are conditioning and gameplanning IMO, it has nothing to do with his ability/skill. All can be fixed by being apart of a team among other high level fighters and can give him the coaches that he does not have. I think AKA or Greg Jackson would be good fits for him. I would say AKA, it would give him a chance to train with somebody like Mo who has went 5 rounds with him and exploited his weaknesses yet realized all he is good at.
I would like to see him move back to 185. His best wins are at 185 and his most impressive performances are there. Also, he matches up very well with Anderson Silva.
