http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/12/4/2611107/bubba-jenkins-mma-debut-fight-video-ncaa-wrestlingLast Friday at Tachi Palace Fights 11 in Lemoore, California, NCAA Division I champion Jesse 'Bubba' Jenkins successfully made his highly anticipated MMA debut at 155lbs. Jenkins needed just a couple of minutes to defeat fellow Lightweight rookie Josh Williams, forcing a tap from strikes with 58 seconds left in a 3 minute first round.
A self-proclaimed proponent of Lay'n'Slay, Jenkins didn't take long to score an impressive single leg pick up takedown near the beginning of the fight, though things got a bit dicey as Williams tried to capitalize on Jenkins' exposed neck, hanging on from the slam attempt and trying to work a guillotine choke from guard. Williams was able to take the back of Jenkins who powered his way back to his feet and spectacularly flipped over to try and shake Williams free. Williams managed to stay on and Jenkins easily stood again until he worked his way free and ended up on top.
Jenkins transitioned to a high mount and tried to land some Ground'n'Pound forcing Williams to turn and try to scramble only for Jenkins to ride the scramble out, maintain control of the back and work both his hooks in before flattening Williams out with a rear stretcher. Able to stay heavy, Jenkins worked punches to the head of Williams who eventually conceded defeat when it became clear he had no way out.
Jenkins fights out of American Top Team and represents his hometown of Virgina Beach, Virginia, having won his NCAA Wrestling title for Arizona State University and previously wrestled for Penn State.
