| As much as I love Machida, Shogun won that fight. Machida's lean back stance left him wide open for body and leg kicks. I really wanted a impressive win by Machida but you got to give the better fighter the win and that was Shogun. This fight shows that Anderson would beat Machida. I feel like they will make a rematch and it will go the same between these two. | |

| Meh. Everytime the champion does not decisivley win a fight people always feel the challenger should win, when it's the other way around. Shogun did not win the fight, nor did he really lose it. Shogun won 2 rounds, i gave the other 3 to Lyoto.
I know i'll catch heat for it because im the resident Dragon nuthugger, but the right man got the decision but i will say a rematch should be imminent.

| Shogun's a beast and absolutely won that fight. If Cecil Peoples scored it for Machida, you know Shogun won that shit. Shogun's my new favorite Light Heavyweight fighter. I would like an immediate rematch while the rest of the contenders (Rashad, Vera, Cane, and hopefully Rampage) start fighting to secure a definite contender for the Shogun/Machida rematch winner. God I'm pissed! | |

The UG literally fucking exploded and service has been temporarily unavailable ever since the decision was announced. I've never witnessed this much outrage for a title fight in my fucking life. I cannot believe you actually think Machida won that fight. You know what though thats your opinion sorry if i'm being an ass.

| We can all stand to watch the fight again, but i disagree. Everything Shogun did was countered 1-3, just because the announcers were subjective with "nice kick by Shogun" they were ignoring that he was taking a shot at the same time each time. Machida outpointed him in those rounds with striking. | |

| Not exactly. a lot of knees rounds 1-3 went absolutley "un" countered by Shogun.
I don't feel taking some knees and then pushing somebody against the cage is countering, i feel it's wasting time.

| Like i said. We can all watch the fight again. I know i was very moment to moment into this fight. Maybe my interpretation will change, but 3 judges seeing it the same way kind of makes me comfortable i did in fact see Machida win 3 rounds or atleast not lose 3 rounds and like it or not, that's a philosophy in combat sports. The champion does not have to beat his challenger, the challenger has to beat the champion and it didnt happen.
I'm not looking to put down anybody elses opinion. It was a very very close fight, but i was not surprised when Lyoto got his hand raised and i don't have a tin foil hat on because it would benifit UFC more if Rua won because of Anderson Silva.

| Worst decision I've seen ever. I watched this with 6 other MMA fans, 5 of them picked machida before the fight, two had $$$ on Machida. After the fight 7 people had shogun UD. One guy thought in was 3-2 shogun, the best score for machida was still a loss. Tonight was disgusting. | |

| I think its a black eye for the sport. MMA is supposed to be better than boxing but this is clearly a boxing type decsion. Shogun clearly won the fight. | |

| The first round had to be Machida's for the early Muay Thai clinch and stuffing the take-down. Rua and Machida exchanged every time they connected otherwise.
Second round, another stuffed take down and the pair continue to exchange shots.
Third round, Machida's barrage of punches wins him the round -- can't remember when exactly, but it was the closest thing to a fight ender we saw tonight. I think he even staggered him with one punch early in the round.
I think the stuffed takedowns must count for something to the judges.
I'm not particularly happy with the result either, but I think it's justifiable. You have to beat the champion to get the belt and I don't think controlling the center of the octagon, a bunch of low kicks and failed takedown attempts accomplish that.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. You've got it backwards man. Everytime the CHALLENGER doesn't clearly win the fight people feel the champ should keep the belt. What the fuck are you talking about? The difference here is that the fight was CLEARLY won by Shogun. The fact that you agree with the judging means nothing, judging in MMA has proven time and time again to be garbage.

| Shogun did more in the first, kinda gave it to him. Machida won the second and third, but four and five were close for Shogun. | |

Are you serious, he beat the champ all the way around the ring, even the champ knew he was beat, the look on his face told it all.
