| Saw this on BE and I had the same questions. http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/11/14/2561671/i-have-no-idea-if-this-is-common-practice-for-ufc-events-but-estherI have no idea if this is common practice for UFC events, but Esther Lin of MMAFighting.com captured an interesting sight on Saturday night. UFC staff painting over the blood already on the canvas, prior to the main event airing on FOX. (Found this via Steve Cofield's yahoo blog) Business as usual? Zuffa simply wanting to put their best foot forward? A warning sign that FOX may not be fully embracing all aspects of the sport? What say you? | |

Only show I was at was UFC 103(looking back now that card is even better(stacked) then thought at the time). They didn't do it there, but I didn't remember any fight that had a ton of blood.

| I'm wondering if it was paint. I don't see how it would have dried in time for the next fight. I doubt the commission would allow them to use paint like that without it being dry.
It may have been a cleaning solution to decontaminate the mat and clean it.

It may have been a cleaning solution to decontaminate the mat and clean it. Have you ever seen them put out some equipment like that to eliminate the blood on the mat? I haven't or even heard of it before. This has to be for the FOX image, right?

| I've seen MMA crews with sponges and rags trying to help sop up blood off the mat before so it isn't slippery, but it could be Fox's way of trying to get people viewing. | |

| I'm pretty sure they were just cleaning up all the Guida cooties that were on the mat. | |

| No, usually it's spray bottles and mops or swifters. Fox could of had their own equipment though for the casual viewers. | |

| They have to decon after every fight, due to staff infections nd bloodborn pathogens, this usually inlcudes a bleach in the product. | |

| Could be a sponsor thing. Maybe a sponsor didn't want blood on their logo on the mat. | |
