Conor Heun, a Strikeforce fighter and 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu brown belt, posted this video on his official website. It shows how and why he was disqualified at the 2011 No-Gi Worlds for communication issues with the referee, who speaks Portugese.

Our guy won his lightweight division, brown belt, and came in 3rd at the absolute. Waiting to get some video of him to post it. I know he won 10-0 and 2 subs, not sure how he won the finals but I know he won.

What did you think about Conor's bizarre situation?

That was lame. You cannot expect people to speak your language, especially when you're not in your country. Whether its boxing, wrestling, grappling, mma, or whatever, when the ref wants a break in the action, especially in a "world" competition where it is expected that multiple cultures will be there, they must make contact with the competitors. The head referee's response was childish also.

Yeah I thought it was pretty crazy and the ref was childish. LOL at Conor's response to the name of the sport he was competing in "submission grappling".
