Respect to both BJ and Cro Cop. Both will always be remembered.

Cro Cop should have retired a couple fights ago.
I'd like to see B.J go out with a win, give him Guillard, Hardy, Daley or Guida.

Agree with CC, but those are horrible fights for BJ to retire against. Let him retire if those are the options. BJ is done anyways as much as I love him. Knocking out Matt Huges of 2011 is not that big of a deal when it comes to the top guys competing for a title. If BJ fights again I want it to be something interesting against another big name.

Was about to make a thread for both of them if i didnt see one up by the time i was done with my review.
Farewell to two of the greatest of all time, although i hope BJ is not done because he is still elite...but i do applaud a guy for holding himself to the standard Penn holds himself to. If being at his current status is not enough to keep him motivated, i respect his decision to retire.
CroCop, it was definitely time for him to retire. I thought his performance vs. Nelson was strong and much better way to go out than how he looked vs. a lesser fighter in Schuab.
There is nothing wrong with going out on your shield, i actually prefer guys to retire on a loss because a win suggests it's not time.

I was sad to see Cro Cop retire last night but I expected it. BJ Penns was a shock to me and it hurt because he is my favorite fighter but like Kings said BJ holds himself to a higher standard than most and I would love to see him go out on his own terms rather than stick around way to long like some of the other legends in recent history.

yeah respect to both of them CC will be missed no doubt but BJ was speaking on emotion I think. Bj has hinted at it before but im sure dana makes it worth his while to come back for a couple more.

To be perfectly honest I think both were a little overrated.
BJ is talked about with the goats, but really was never as dominate of a champion as Chuck, Hughes, Fedor, GSP, Aldo, Anderson, and maybe even Faber(keep in mind 145 is a different animal than 155 and 170). His career kind of reminds me of Couture's where he had some huge wins in multiple weigh classes, but never stayed on top that long. BJ's gas tank really is a black eye for his career too IMO.
Cro Cop was a nice HW with a ton of highlights, but he was 3rd best in pride when heavyweights were at their weakest. He was easily surprised by the huge in the UFC and showed that his real strength (kickboxing) wasn't near as elite as we all thought it was. (Outstruck by Kongo, Barry, Overeem, JDS, Gonzaga, and Mir) But then again the argument could be made that was in the later part of his career.
Overall I'm splitting hairs, but just a few thoughts. They are true legends and will be missed.
