- "Well to be honest with you, I have recommended to Georges, you know...the only reason I don't recommend it now is because Frankie Edgar is the champion, but I'd want him to move down to 155 if Frankie was not the champion. Obviously we're part of the Renzo Gracie team and we'd never fight Frankie Edgar, because obviously we're all Renzo Gracie fighters. But if it wasn't the case, you know, I'd rather him go down to 155 because Georges is not a very big welterweight. People might think he is, he's actually not very big. And him making 170 is extremely easy for him. Honestly, it's probably one of the easiest weight cuts from all that I coach, and I coach a lot of professional fighters. Georges making 170 is getting a little too easy for him, so I'd recommend to him in the future, who knows what the cards hold, but if we don't have a team member that's champion or anything like that, I would recommend him to go down first before going up. Georges' body type, he's actually ectomorph, he's very lean. He doesn't put on a lot of muscle unless we make do a lot of lifting, and I do make him do a lot of lifting. That's one of the reasons why I wanted him to start doing Olympic lifting, and just a high volume of weightlifting is what will keep him muscular. Because Georges doesn't really put on fat and muscle very easily, and I really think he could lose a little bit of muscle. He doesn't have much fat on him, and a lot of water and a lot of electrolytes. Just doing the weight cut from like 175, he would make it down to 155 quite easily."

| GSP doesn't want to fight Anderson Silva and I am pretty sure of that now. Silva probably has about 5 inches more of a reach so I don't blame him. I still think GSP takes Anderson down at will though. | |

| Can they just cut to the chase and come out and say GSP doesn't even remotely want a piece of Anderson so we can move on? | |

| Next we'll have Forrest Griffins Coach saying a move to Middleweight would be a good move. | |

I hear ya. GSP would be drained if he had to cut to 155lbs. He walks around at like 195lbs.

Not according to Joe Silva Its actually 172, not 182. Still a pretty big cut.

Not at all. I would think Maynard is heavier than 172lbs at his normal weight though. He is a pretty big LW. I was thinking upper 170's to low 180's for maynard. Cutting 17lbs for a professional is nothing.

| Dude a dominant champ moving down to a lower division is not interesting.
But what else would we expect from GSP and his camp? Risk taking? Hell No!

| The odds of GSP moving up to fight Anderson Silva are better than the odds of Anderson Silva moving up to fight Jon Jones.
People remember this is 1 of his coaches saying it not GSP himself. |

| I have talked about this sooooo many times over the last couple of years. Just appreciate GSP for the dominate Champion he is. He doesn't owe the fans shit, he needs to do what is best for him as a fighter and that is fighting at his OPTIMUM WEIGHT! The weight that allows him to compete at the highest level. | |

Well said! So is Anderson yet you refer to him as a pussy with alarming regularity on here for not moving up GSP moreso than anyone in the sport has Floyd Mayweather disease. He's afraid to lose

OU I have agreed with u forever that I really dont care to see GSP vs Spider and would rather see fighters stay at there normal weight. Thing that bothers me is why dont he just smash the rumors and say "hey Im not moving up right now and if I change my mind I will let u know". Tell his team dont answer questions about this shit and leave it at that.

That's all fine, and I agree it's on him wether he moves up for a huge fight or not. But dude, tell your coach to keep mum on moving DOWN in weight. That's what guys on losing streaks do, not dominant champs.
