| Would that be the single best year any MMA fighter has ever had? He would have beaten 4 top 10 guys in the LHW division in Ryan Bader, Mauricio Rua, Quinton Jackson and Lyoto Machida. |

| It would be on par with Shogun's 2005 year when he beat Kanehara, Rampage, Lil Nog, Overeem, and Arona. Overeem and Arona being in one night. | |

Good call but I would still take Bones year over Rua's if he ends up beating Machida. No soccer kicks allowed in the UFC fights.

Good call but I would still take Bones year over Rua's if he ends up beating Machida. No soccer kicks allowed in the UFC fights. And there was no elbows allowed in Pride, which is Bones's biggest weapon...

| Also may I add. Rampage, Lil Nog, Arona were all in the top 5 when Shogun beat them. Overeem was in the top 10. Similar to how Shogun, Machida, Rampage are/were in the top 5 and Bader was in the top 10. | |

| I assume we're talking calendar year, but GSP went from Nov 05 to Nov 06 beating Sherk, Penn, & Hughes. | |

Rua is the guy that beat all of them so it sweetins the deal when I think of the comparison, since Bones did beat him when he was the champion. Shogun went on a more brutal tear imo.

| I prefer Shogun's just because the Page, Overeem, and Arona stoppages were all brutal, and the Lil Nog fight is the greatest in MMA history IMO | |

But Bones will have 3 one time UFC champs on his list. Very very tight.

Fedor had two of those in one year and they were called cans when they were not. So, while yes that would be great and very arguably the best year for a fighter...it would still need to stand the test of time with the revisionist history buffs(the average MMA fan)

I wouldn't say the elbows are his '' biggest weapon '' but he definitely likes to utilize them when up against the cage or on full mount, The guy will only develop more weapons for his arsenal as he gets older and more experienced.

| The Jones year is bigger. Bader was undefeated, the rest were former champions. There are arguments for either fighter but Overeem and Arona were not as elite as Machida, Rampage and Shogun himself. Bones also beats Shogun so he takes the soul of his year as well. | |

Technically only 2 of em were former champs. And really looking ahead here, but if Jones beats Lyoto, and then Shad, and then gets Shogun(seems logical no?) again, that would be fighting the current or former champ in 5 straight fights. At that point, they might as well let him beat up Forrest just to keep the string going. This Hamill fight is a really unfortunate black mark on what is already an insane resume.

| if jon jones beats lyoto machida, the LHW division should probably just start shitting on themselves because IMO lyoto stands the best chance to beat jones | |

| If he does, Shogun's Year would not be bigger, maybe a tie though. Bones would be better at best a tie at worst. | |
