| The UFC looked after their own interests with the Fox deal so Spike has to look after their own. |

Spike TV announced today that it is counter programming UFC's debut on FOX with three hours of programming on 11/12 that will feature the biggest names, and in particular, Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos.
Spike will air UFC programming from 9 p.m. to midnight. In the head-to-head hour with the Velasquez vs. Dos Santos title match on FOX, Spike will be airing a tape of Velasquez's title win over Brock Lesnar, as well as Dos Santos' biggest win over Shane Carwin, and Jon Jones' win over Ryan Bader.
Over the next two hours, Spike will air Dos Santos vs. Mirko Cro Cop, Tyson Griffin vs. Hermes Franca, Thiago Silva vs. Keith Jaradine, Velasquez vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Matt Serra vs. Frank Tirgg, Pat Barry vs. Antoni Hardonk and Kendall Grove vs. Mark Munoz.
Spike is also promoting it as a five-hour MMA night, pushing the live Bellator fights on MTV 2, which will be moved from the usual 9 p.m. start time to 7 p.m. so as not to compete with the taped UFC fights on Spike.

| Man, I wonder how many viewers these old fights on Spike will take away from a hugely promoted HW title fight on live network TV | |

Probably a lot more than the UFC would like, even if the figure is small i think it's the gesture.

I would like to think people will always turn into a live fight as opposed to a rerun, but we have seen more viewers turn into a re-air of Marquardt then to a live fight of Marquardt. So who knows. But I think it could hurt the fox #'s if the live fight ends early. Especially if there is an extended commercial break right after the fight.

| I'm surprised Spike has rights to claim some of those fights. Cain vs Brock? How to they get that? I wonder if the UFC counter Programming thing is a bite in the ass now too, might of gave up too many fights for unleashed and Affliction and SF countering. | |
