Having watched the fight this morning, this man really is a disgrace to his profession.

he clearly says 'lets go', so i would assume the fight is live again and the issue is not with the punches thrown by floyd. but cortez was looking in the opposite direction and floyd could have stuck the nut on ortiz or pulled a cosh out from his trunks and smashed him in the face with it for all cortez knew about it.

i've seen him ruin fights with his bias on numerous occasions but it defies the point of having a ref if he isn't keeping an eye on the action.

Cortez was unclear and was at fault. Like you said, at one point he said lets go and clearly puts his hand between the fighters and removes his hand, signaling to the fighters that time is in and the fight is on. Then he looks towards the table as though he isnt sure if time is in. However, time was stopped with 9 seconds left in the round after the head butt and the ko was called at 2:59, so clearly, the clock people heard and saw Cortez say 'lets go' and started the clock. What Mayweather did wasnt illegal, but if he hadn't been head butted like that, he prob wouldnt have thrown those two punches. Regardless, he was dominating the fight anyway.

Cortez has been bad for years but still gets the big fights.

Cortez got this fight because Floyd asked for him. Or that is what I recall reading somewhere last week.

I had to relook at that again, it looks like he is in shock of what is going on, clueless idiot, isn't he the referee that Hopkins said he didn't want to be the Ref in one of his fights
