I see BJ winning the fight too. I think he has better hands, better wrestling and better bjj (which as OU said, likely wont lead to any submission, but rather will be used for positional dominance). I think BJ will land a lot on his feet and can take Diaz down whenever he wants without fear of being submitted. In a 5 round fight, I'd have to think more on this, but in a 3 round fight, I think BJ takes this.

You think this fight hits the ground? So you are saying BJ uses his wrestling to get Nick down and then use his superior BJJ to establish dominate positioning? I really don't see it playing out that way.

You are insane. BJ is not going out there to win a dec vs Nick Diaz. He is going out there to put on a fight. They will stand toe to toe, give the fans what they want and may the best man win. That is how it is going to play out. I have a hard time seeing it any other way.

If BJ wants to take Didaz down, he will.

Im not saying it will go to the ground, but I am saying that the only one of the two that can take it there is BJ. Diaz wont be able to take BJ down, but BJ will be able to take him down whenever he wants. Having the ability to dictate where the fight takes place is a big part of this. I think if BJ takes Diaz down, it will be to mix things up. That said, I think BJ will out box Diaz and if he takes it to the ground, will pass guard and land some ground and pound. I don't think BJ will have any desire to take Nick down. It's one thing to worry about points when fighting a guy like Fitch or GSP. It's another thing to worry about points when your opponent is Nick Diaz. His state of mind will be completely different with this fight. He will come to fight, not to earn the most points. I'm very confident in saying this. I think most people have the same expectations.

I gotcha. Im just applying the formulas I use when picking a fight and betting on the results. In this situation, Im putting my money on BJ. Based on my criteria, BJ has more options in the fight and imo, is better in everything with the exception of cardio, which is why I said earlier that a 5 round fight would cause me to think more about this.

I don't think BJ will have any desire to take this to the ground. Like I said before I don't think winning the points game will even enter into BJ's mind. I think BJ will welcome the chance to stand toe to toe with Nick. Even with Frankie where they stood almost the entire time the threat of a take down was always there. Here BJ can pin his ears back and go for it. That's exactly what I expect to happen. Two guys just going for it, bringing it all out. I think Nick's reach will give him the edge over BJ who I think holds a slight advantage in terms of boxing skill.

Nick is gonna get checked hard by BJ. He deserves it

The thing about Nick is he doesn't have let downs and he is motivated for every fight, his gameplan may be in question at times, but you never hear if Diaz can get motivated, if Diaz can train, can BJ with this fight of course he can, will he, not likely, if he takes Nick down he has to worry about that ground game, he might hit harder then Diaz but he won't throw as many punches, Diaz will win.

Now as for that interview, it is not GSP's job to say hey wait I know this guy failed on every aspect of promoting this fight, but I think he should still fight me, and know one wants to go to Stockton Nick, wasn't or isn't that the highest crime rates city in California, your not a little kid anymore and it is time to stop testing people to see how far you can push em, man up and if you do get that fight again with GSP, show the fuck up and fulfill the obligations before the fight

Pretty much what I got out of it as well. Either he is implying someone with a family cannot be the best because that's not what he has and does or he's just further displaying his intelligence through communication.

It is a weirdly phrased comment although I think he meant well. Not that I care anyway, as I don't think Diaz is a terrible human being, just a misguided soul
