After Belfort’s last explosive win in UFC 133 against Yoshihiro Akiyama, UFC is quickly putting him back in the ring and this time against martial arts master Cung Le for UFC 139 on November 19th in San Jose, California.

His next step back to the top goes by the name of Cung Le with an undefeated kick boxing record and only suffering only one loss in MMA which he avenged with extreme force.

This champion Sanshou kick boxer is entering UFC for the first time after a reign in Strikeforce. He took some time after his win against Frank Shamrock to become the second Strikeforce Middleweight Champion before vacating the title to further pursue an acting career.

Le fights for UFC a desire that has been expressed greatly. “I know for a fact that if I do fight again, it’s going to be in the UFC. I’ve never fought in the UFC, but I would love to fight in the UFC. But right now because of my contract with Showtime and Strikeforce, hopefully things can work out because there is a show in San Jose that Cain Velasquez is the main event. I agree. I think Vitor will be too good for him.

Cung is the more talented striker.

smorgasbord of sidekicks. Belfort may or may not win, but he'll take his licks.

If this is the main event then it will be a 5 rounder I would guess. Hopefully we get a 5 round stand up war.

Cung Le has a strong wrestling base that he uses for sprawl and brawl ala Chuck Liddell, hard to imagine this fight not being on the feet the entire time.

I'd be more inclined to pick Cung if he was an active fighter. 2 fights since Shamrock many moons ago, and both against Smith. I think a blitz fighter like Belfort can play into Cung's hands but Cung is already an old guy and never fights. Don't know what to expect in his performance.

Cung picks you apart, not as much straight shot KO's you. He def has good TTD and agree it stays standing, but layoff + Vitor's hands speed + power = trouble IMO.

Vitor isn't a spring chicken either and this isn't Akiyama, but Cung's age and lay off make me concerned.

yeah, but i thought we mostly all filed Cung-Smith I under fluke.Cung played with his food for too long and choked on it. He would probably have a bit more respect for Belfort..by the third round of his first fight with Smith he had zero respect for him outside of the "he can take a beating" respect.

A prime form Cung Le is the only real threat to Anderson Silva. I don't know if a 40 year old guy who hasn't fought in two years almost counts as that though. But if he comes close to what he always has been, he'd fucking embarrass Vitor.

I was going to reference that. If it's hard to get past the Smith KO...it's pretty hard to get past Vitor's title shot coming to an end before he even got warm to a rare front kick KO..yes, it's Spider...but dynamic kicks as well as those of the come out of nowhere variety are Cung Le's game.

That whole "Prime Cung is Anderson's only test? line? what is it 2009?

The point is Cung has fast out of no where kicks as part of his game. Cung is one of the guys who reminds me the most of Machida. Standing, Cung at his peak, would be Silva's toughest fight standing save a prime Crocop. Cung is one of the best standing talents to enter MMA ever.

Man what a great/exciting time to be an MMA fan.

If Cung Le somehow wins this does he get a shot at Anderson Silva?
