| http://www.mmamania.com/2011/8/21/2376239/ufc-139-josh-koscheck-returns-on-nov-19-in-san-jose-possibly-as-a - Quote :
- Former number one welterweight contender Josh Koscheck will make his triumphant return to the Octagon after nearly a year-long layoff in front of a hometown crowd at UFC 139, which is scheduled to take place at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., on Nov. 19, 2011.
And he says there's a "good chance" he'll do so as middleweight, the first time he will have done so since knocking out Chris Sanford at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 1 Finale all the way back in 2005.
"Kos" revealed earlier today that he will more than likely test the 185-pound waters and we should "know real soon" who is opponent will be, though no hints were provided as to just who exactly it could be.
Koscheck is no stranger to controversy and has had his share of beef with fighters that compete outside his normal 170-pound weight class. However, most of them, such as Stephan Bonnar and Tito Ortiz, reside in the light heavyweight division and are far too heavy to cut down to middleweight.
So who does that leave for Koscheck? Time will tell.
Koscheck, who, when healthy, is among the most active fighters in the sport, has not seen action since getting his face broken in a losing five-round effort against welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre in Dec. 2010. It required surgery to repair, which also included a long layoff and caused him to lose his mind.
If he does indeed return in San Jose, he'll join his American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) stablemate Cain Velasquez, who is set to make the first defense of his heavyweight title against recently crowned number one contender Junior dos Santos. Jon Fitch, another AKA fighter recovering from a major injury, has also expressed an interest in returning at the "Shark Tank."
Monkey see, monkey do. | |

| I believe they have always hated each other since the show. It actually would be a very interesting fight. | |

| I'd laugh my ass of if Leben KO'd him. Kos is a good striker but he isn't the type to pick apart someone. He looks to land big shots. Ok man. Try that against Chris Leben. | |

I want to say Kos but I can't help but to think at some point in the middle of a good fight Munoz would land a shot that but Kos down.

| That's a tough first fight for Kos. Leben would be winnable, but Munoz and Akiyama would beat him down. | |

| Koscheck could win ten fights in a row at WW against the WW top ten, and he probably still wouldn't get a shot against GSP for the title so I understand the move, but there are still compelling challenges at WW for Kos. Condit, Penn, Shields, Diaz, Ellenberger, MacDonald and maybe a rematch with Paulo Thiago are all compelling fights. Kos would stand very little chance against the same caliber opponents at MW. He's going to become irrelevant very quickly. | |

I don't know about that. They're both wrestlers basically, and Ed is a way bigger.

I don't know about that. They're both wrestlers basically, and Ed is a way bigger. And Eds submission game is light years ahead of Kos. Overall grappling advantage should go to Ed.

Sort of like Franklin? I don't think it's that bad because I think in the next 2-3 years GSP will move up for sure. |
