| Early stoppage for sure. It wasn't just a fight on the line it was a man's career. If Fedor is going to be knocked out of the sport I would prefer it would be out cold and not just seriously hurt for a moment. Would Hendo have pounded Fedor out? We shouldn't have to ask that question. The fight would have been more EPIC if they let it continue, that much is a fact. Either we have a stiff Fedor that is without question finished. Or he recovers and the EPIC battle continues. Either way we were robbed of the ending this battle deserved.

| It was a good stoppage. Once Hendo turned the corner on that outside single (which Fedor didn't even attempt to overhook and defend...possibly a worse sign then anything of Fedor's decline) he landed the right uppercut. That right uppercut made Fedor go limp and at that point, the fight was over. Fedor's arms went to his side and he face planted after that right uppercut. Hendo then landed two shots from top while Herb Dean was jumping in to stop it. Either the second shot or Herb Dean's body caused Fedor to regain consciousness and turn over (still with his arms not up defending himself), which is why some think it was an early stoppage.
This is just like when Rampage ko'd Liddell. Rampage made Liddell go limp, prompting the ref to jump in. Either one of Rampages successive punches or the ref's body made Liddell regain consciousness, so when Rampage finally got off of him, Liddell was turning toward him, making some people think it was an early stoppage and that Liddell wasn't out (he was).
I had this argument with a friend while this fight happened. Some people view Fedor as superman, so they cannot admit that he was out. Had Herb Dean not jumped in, Fedor would have continued to receive unnecessary shots...not what a champion of his status deserves. The man's time has passed...happens to everyone. | |
