The long-awaited trilogy fight was supposed to take place at UFC 130 in May, but injuries suffered by both the champion Edgar and Maynard forced the UFC to delay the lightweight title fight.

Maynard handed Edgar the only loss of his career in April 2008. They met again in January, this time under different circumstances with Edgar as champion, but the UFC 125 rematch ended in a draw. That fight is considered by many to be the current front-runner for 2011 Fight of the Year.

UFC 136 is scheduled to take place on Oct. 8 at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX. The co-main event is expected to be Chael Sonnen vs. Brian Stann.

I've kinda lost interest in this fight now, would much rather see Frankie face Miller or Melendez.

Edgar won two rounds but the judges helped out by not scoring the first round a more appropriate 11-6 for Gary.

I think there's a much bigger argument that Frankie won all 4 rounds after the first than there is of Gray winning 2 of them

I kinda agree with Ali. Im definitely no where near as pumped for this fight as I was 2 months ago.

136 and 137 are looking like great cards. I want to see this fight and know who is better. I leaned towards Frankie in the 2nd fight but I still think Gray wins the third and becomes champion.

Based on what? I agree Gray takes the third round but he got outworked from bell to bell in rounds 2, 4, and 5. He got outstruck in the round, neither guy succeeded in takedowns, but Gray got stuffed 7 times that round while Edgar got stuffed 3.

The delays have killed the momentum for me, plus despite the second fight being exhilarating it's still hard to get pumped up for a Gray Maynard fight.

Gray Maynard is exciting in general. Good MMA boxer, well rounded, strong, comes to fight. He has relied on his wrestling when he was coming up but again, is this fucking 2007 still?

he has outstuck most of his previous opponents in the last few years. heck kenny couldnt losen up cus he was worried by the takedown thus allowed gray to outstrike him .it takes 2 to make an exciting fight and last time i remembered gray/frankie 2 was one of the top 5 fights of the year

The last time he had a fight that wasn't great on the eyes is when he fought Rich Clementi. That was a cagey, hard to control vet against a fighter with an evolving top game. Bad match on paper and in the cage.

Not to mention Maynard's personality is completely horrendous. I was cringing during his MMA live appearance before the rematch.

Disagree. Maynard has some pretty funny interviews.

Still very pumped about this fight. The 2nd was is still FOY IMO.

136 cannot come soon enough.
