Ron Artest changing his name to Metta World Peace

Ron Artest's(notes) pending name change to -- get ready -- "Metta World Peace" is a real thing. An all-too real thing.

Apparently, Lakers radio reporter John Ireland broke the news on his show earlier Thursday, and TMZ picked it up from there. AP confirmed the madness is true. Metta World Peace, with "Metta" apparently a word derived from the Buddhist religion and the Sanskrit language meaning "friendliness," "benevolence" and all manner of other heartwarming descriptions.

Seen this already with Chad Johnson come up with something else Ron. It was stupid when he did it and will be even worse when you do it.

Jersey sells must have been declining.

Artest was popular after and during 2010, I bet his jersey did decent sales.

He's still likable but naturally declining so people aren't as high on him now and wouldn't mind trading him to help the team.

Yeah to me that is different. Not only was that done years ago but the guys last name was Free and his middle initial was B. So he really just changed his first name, it wasn't that big of a jump.
