the Ubereem Mega-Title

A continuation of the "Fedor title", aka the lineal title lineage that made many claim Fedor even without a home was MMA's true champion ;

Three UFC lineal titles(all traced to Couture losses) including the original one unified under the
The Pride title whose lineage
continued as the Wamma title and merged with the
IFL lineal title(AA>Nelson>Fedor) which Fedor famously relinquished to
to EliteXC lineal champion Fabricio Werdum(Beat Bigfoot to gain that title) and
Finally merged with the reigning K1, Strikeforce and Dream HW champion
Alistar Overeem.

Now the Strikeforce title is analogous with the true lineages of every MMA promotion. The title doesn't mean as much unless the fighter who claims it is imposing and marketable. While Overeem may not have dazzled in his performance against Werdum, he did convincingly beat a top five HW and gain any and all claims to HW relevancy outside the UFC. There are no other quasi champions out there now as all roads lead to Reem.

Some fans may not buy into this for whatever reason, choosing only to recognize the UFC champion, I say enjoy it while it lasts, because the next year contains the build up to the final credible champion vs champion fight in MMA history. The UFC believes this is marketable, and this angle makes the fight and sport in general fun and interesting.


Just go with it.

No matter what the champion of the tourney is the lineal champ who will meet Cain or JDS in 2012. The Mayans predicted this, those smart asses.

You don't even think Reem is as good as, or would beat Cain or JDS so how much can this "Lineal Title" mean...You actually said JDS would destroy Reem, the "Lineal Champion".

Reem has a chance in this division with the power he has. Anyway, like I said, this will be the last time in the entire sport's existence a credible champion vs champion fight between two worthy competitors from separate promotions will ever come to fruition. Ever. This is it. With this last fight the UFC claims utter dominion on all divisions sport wide. (Gil vs UFC champ gets a nod but hardly has the history or hype this fight does)

Ride it out. The lineal title does mean a lot though because fans on this board and journalists elsewhere mention it. The UFC champion isn't legitimately the undisputed number 1 until he beats the Strikeforce champion. This isn't a knock on the UFC, or any UFC fighters. This isn't to say the UFC champion wouldn't be the favorite which if JDS wins I think they will be. Don't get mad, just the way it is. I know some people huff and puff extra loud about how the UFC title is the only title that matters, but all that means is that is the only title that matters to them.

They are my three and four right now. When their fight is over, if it happens before JDS/Cain, and depending on how it is won, the winner could vault to #1.

completely agree, and I think he will beat Big Foot, everyone seems to forget Werdum tagging Big Foot before submitting him.

Werdum won a decision against Foot, he didn't sub him, Foot also broke his hand early in the 1st rd.

I thought either Werdum or Bigfoot could of won the decision too. It was close. Silva did more damage but Werdum gave better perception.

Yeah that Werdum-Silva fight was a close one. If they fought again I would pick Bigfoot.
