- Todd Duffee, owner of the fastest knockout in UFC history, will get another chance to prove himself in Japan as it was revealed on Wednesday that the heavyweight power-puncher has agreed to square off with the undefeated "Bully Beatdown" veteran Nick "Afrozilla" Gaston at DREAM.17 on July 16 at Ariake Coliseum.
Duffee's promotional debut at Dynamite on New Year's Eve 2010 was catastrophic. In his first fight since being cut from the UFC due to attitude problems, Duffee took a fight on extremely short notice and against the advice of his manager with one of the most dangerous men in the heavyweight division: 2010 K-1 World GP champion and Strikeforce ace Alistair Overeem.
As many predicted, Duffee proved to be no match for the much more experienced Overeem and the American fell in only 19 seconds.
Also announced for DREAM's first numbered event of the year, Atsushi Yamamoto, who TKO'ed newcomer Yusaku Nakamura in his May 29 Bantamweight GP quarterfinal bout before falling to Hideo Tokoro in the semifinals, has been forced out of his third-place GP bout with Kenji Osawa due to a detached retina. ZST bantamweight champion Keisuke Fujiwara, who dropped a decision to GP finalist Masakazu Imanari in the quarterfinals, will instead face Osawa for third place honors http://www.mmafighting.com/2011/06/15/todd-duffee-vs-nick-gaston-booked-for-dream-17/

| True dat, true dat.
Nick Gaston doesnt appear to be any kind of pushover though. I think it will be a good fight. Im thinking about going to watch Gastons next KOTC fight at Winstar. If it hasnt already happened.

Gonna be tough I think. as long as he gets the win here, it'll be a start. and i dont see why it'd be that tough....he lost to russow, which was an anomaly IMO. he dominated him so bad that we all know duffee should've won that fight. and then getting KO'd by overeem at this time is no shame. i do think it was a lil foolish tho for him to fight someone with so much experience, but he had nothing to lose. i think if he wins, SF should sign him, and then he can work his way back up.

i think if he wins, SF should sign him, and then he can work his way back up. 1. SF is a product of ZUFFA, Dana will give him the business.. as usual. 2. Theres nothing for him to work back up to. The UFC needs HW's like Duffee. Its clear that if the UFC wanted him, they would have him.

| Dana has had issues with a lot of people that are much more serious than Duffee who was reportedly just kind of an asshole and a pain to deal with. A couple wins and he's back in the fold. A young heavyweight with good standup and power isn't getting the cold shoulder. Dana was just hugging it out with Josh Barnett not long ago, it won't be that hard for Duffee | |

You're right in that the UFC needs HW's like Duffee, which means you're wrong if you don't think they could work something out if Duffee actually won some fights. Since he was cut for attitude problems, he has been KO'd once. And done nothing else. Let him KO Afrozilla and a couple other guys and he is back in no time.
