5 years ago there was not 1 African-American fighter ranked in the top 5 in any of the weight divisions and now in the UFC LHW division the title match and the number 1 contenders match consists of 4 of them. The standard of athletes has risen big time and people can no longer try to claim that it's a redneck sport. Hopefully in another 5 years the same fights will consist of 4 fighters from 4 different nations.

You seem to be forgetting about guys like Yves Edwards, Rampage, and Anderson, and that that no one can claim this is a Brazilian sport.

All of them were ranked between #1 or #5 well before March of 2006 and all were either considered top 5 or 10 in March of 2006 so what's your point do you think you're trying to make?

In my first post I stated African-American and only Rampage is African-American out of the 3 that you named. Anyway this isn't about a feel good story but just stating that the game is evolving and better athletes are starting to enter this sport over others. Hopefully it keeps evolving and we get Australian, Indian and Spanish etc world champions in the near future.
