Keep in mind it was suppose to be Tito. Davis was a late replacement.

I don't think Tito's takedowns would be enough to get Nog down. I also don't think he would have switched to a singles. I don't think Tito's singles would work. And I think Tito wouldn't have made it out of the 2nd.

yeah, Nog went from getting a bone thrown his way in the form of a guy whose wrestling is antiquated and hasn't won a fight in going on 5 years vs an undefeated up and coming former NCAA champ. So Silva tried to do right by Nog.

On the other hand if Nog can't handle the Brilz Bader's and Davis's of the world then he's going to find tough matchups no matter where he turns.

I see lot of Nog vs Forrest to decide who should be higher ranked, but that doesn't always tell the whole story. Fights are about match ups. I think Nog is a tough match up for Forrest because Nog's size negates some of Forrest's usual size advantage and his boxing is better than Forrests. Forrest jack of all trades, but master of none plus hes got a great pace for a huge guy. Nog on the other hand is a near master at boxing relatively speaking.

I think lil nog vs Franklin would be a good fight for both. They get 1 last chance to make a run at being a top 10 fighter.

I'd say he's top 5 in the division when it comes to striking. He;s out struck Overeem, Cane, and for a good chunk of their fight Shogun. Not too shabby if you ask me.

I don't know if I would call him a "near master" of boxing. His striking looked like wet dogshit against Bader and it wasn't especially overwhelming against Brilz. In fact the only guy he destroyed with strikes was Cane. Minotoro is still a talent either just inside or just outside the top ten, but his striking isn't masterful. Lets not forget that Davis has had major shortcomings in the striking department due mostly to him being green to the sport.

Nog circa 2011 is no near master. The 2005 references(vs guys who were in there early 20's) mean little at this point. He was squared off for a full rnd with Davis last night, and didn't win the rnd on one card.

I don't see how Davis won the first except for getting credit for attempting takedowns. Nog was coming forward the entire round. Davis stayed away didn't land anything.

Name 5 better strikers at 205.

The stand up in stand up fighters usually turns the moment they arent comfortable on their feet and are worried about the takedown. If i recall correctly brilz outstruck lil nog. He said the reason why he did so bad in that fight was because he was expecting a stand up fight against forrest. I like lil nog vs franklin or forrest but those are fights he would lose unless he is able to keep them both on the ground.

Rampage & Hendo are debatable.

Again that fight was 6 yrs ago. Rua was 24, Nog was 29.

And i'd add Jones to that list as well, as well as many debateable guys.

and vera vs Nog is a fight I'd like to see. Both guys have been wrestled up in recent fights.

This would free these guys up from that.
