| I was thinking about starting another business. I admit to be ignorant on the fees and regulations to dealers and any accredidations that one might have to posess.
What I want to do is get a warehouse turn it into a showroom and but cars direct from dealer auctions. I dont want to open a dealership persay just a showroom and website. I am interested in purchasing european cars for sale.
In your opinions would this require lots of hoops to jump through or be easily managed?

| My Dad has a couple friends who buy and sell cars from Adesa car auctions, you'd have to get a license I believe, and they've told me unless it's for hobby, you have to move some cars to make money off it, what I mean is a fair amount. Hope you got deep pockets, but good luck. | |

| If you could get your hands on some older, or rare exotic cars it would work. Most people aren't gonna buy a car they can't drive unless they are collectors. I have bought and sold cars almost my whole adult life. There are sites like this already. I do think you could make it work, but it all comes down to what kind of deals you find. It doesn't matter what you are selling, there is always a buyer. The way to make money is when you buy, not when you sell. A smart buyer will always come out ahead. If you can't buy something for 55-60% of what it retails.....don't buy it! Of course you will have to factor in the condition of the vehicle also because overhead is a bitch if you buy something and have to sink another $500.00-1,000.00 in a car for some reason you didn't anticipate. I am working for a dealer now, so I don't have to worry about that. | |

| Yeah check this out, http://www.adesa.com/home, not sure it's exactly what you're looking for, but I know they sell through all their locations pretty much anything with an engine. I've only been to a couple because you need a pass and I used my Dad's buddy's sons pass, but I saw a wide range of cars, ATVs, boats ect. When I was 18, I had this idea to partner with him and sell cars to High school students or young college students. We'd get an idea of what they wanted, what they could spend, then go to the auctions and see what we could get. Well he kind of stole my idea, and expanded the parking lot of the business he owned and filled it with affordable cars for that range of people. I couldn't hate though, not like I had money or the ability to get the cars myself. Hope it works out though, kind of envious, hey if you get into old muscle cars I've kind of been looking, want something that runs but isn't in such good shape where I can't afford it, like willing to spend about 10K. Just a project I'd start now and finish years down the line. | |

| What kind of car are you looking for LA? You can still get a lot of car for around 10k, just gotta shop smart.
As far as the original post goes, it's a tough business. You'd honestly be better off using other sites like ebay or cars-on-line.com or something along those lines. You have to think about why or how would someone search out your small site? There is a lot of money to be made in it though if you are smart. I work at a dealership and I run our used car department now and the two most important things I can tell you are to find a great detailer and get every inch of every car detailed. Second is don't ever buy a car without driving it and checking engine and suspension...you can lose a lot of money fast if you don't! Good luck man I hope it works out.

Why dont you buy a shell of a muscle car and rebuild it. Sure, it'd wind up costing more than 10k, but you arent paying all of it at once...and then you get to customize everything yourself.

| A shell would be a ton of work, I do want to do it right if I even can, but I'd want to start with something running or close to it, matching #'s ect.
I actually looked at a 69 442 over the weekend, running, solid shape, obviously not perfect, matching #'s, garage kept all original, but the guy wanted 15K, I offered him 9 cash knowing he'd pass.
Cubes, I see, yeah no clue about how aquiring those foriegn brands works, might be more work then you'd want to deal with.
