For SF to win him, I see it potentially being the first step to following through on their proposed talks of conducting a Middleweight Grand Prix.

Champ might not even be in it but no problem having him there at all in my opinion.

Good SF guys for it now
Ronaldo Souza
Tim Kennedy
Luke Rockhold
Cung Le
Jason Miller
Prangly
Manheof

Potential
Jorge Santiago

Would dream want to participate?
Nakamura
Amoussou

How stable is WVR anyway?
Khalidov
Misaki

Then you got guys out there roaming along with SF young guns. Alternate pool potentially
Leites
Radev
Fujii
Schambari
Rosholt
Villefort
Villasenor
Santana
Salter
Medeiros
Coleman
Mata Ele
Philippou

Just seems like SF will be able to get 14 guys(8 and 6 alternates) for a nice Grand Prix. Santiago is a great top ten MW addition to that scenario.

I don't put it past Strikeforce to see this previously discussed plan put to life.

I think $$$ will be the big factor as to where he goes.

He'd prob get streamlined towards a title fight in SF.

With Lawler and Kennedy just recently losing, and Jacare not overly interested in Mayhem, there is not a ton of challengers for Jacare in the near future.

Now the UFC MW division is not exactly a murderers row and has also been recently "cleaned out" so I don't think he'd have a long and arduous road to the title there either. If he were a bigger name to the typical UFC fan he'd prob be a win over Maia away from a title fight. Shit Belfort got a title shot without even winning a fight in the division.

Vitor is Vitor though

And that division is very solid, just a situation where the guy at the top is the or one of the best fighters ever, after him though there's like 6 other top 10 ranked MWs.

what does "vitor is vitor" mean exactly? Aside from the fact that he is a guy that UFC fans know?

And being as how Silva has made the division stale, a guy like Jorge, being successful outside the org, and new to the UFC might get a easy road to a title shot. See Shields, Hardy, Vitor etc.

Successful outside the Org, not in, Jorge was KO'd by Leben and Belcher in the UFC.

And Vitor is Vitor, means the guys in a former UFC Champion who has a long history as a top fighter, just took some detours along the way.

Granted Santiago's name does not ring to the typical UFC fan the way Belfort's does, but we have seen guys streamlined towards title shots b4, and right now the the UFC division is void of interesting challenges for Silva.

It is 5 years, but all guys have improved since then. Outside Mamed it hasn't exactly been a murderer row since then.

There's other fights to make first, a win over a Maia, a Bisping, and him geting a shot wouldn't bother me though.
