wolfs fantasy mma league?

Leave this thread in this forum for a few days so it can be seen.

I know there is another fantasy league, but this one would be different. This is a different type than any weve played here or espn. seeing if anyone is interested.

No drafts, just head to head pick ems for major cards, mainly all UFC events, and selected Dream, Sengoku and Strikeforce. Instead of picking teams, you create a fictional fighter. Each card represents a bout between fictional fighters.

Points will be awarded based on accuracy of the pick. 1 point for picking the winner, another point for accurately picking dec or the round the fight ends, and one point for method of victory per fight. Each fight on the card can net 0 up to 3 points.

There are a couple of different ways you can score the bout and models I might use for seasons I havent finalized yet. But there will be a scoring scale to determine how you're fighter wins the fight. For example if you win by 1 point it's a split decision, if you win by 20 it's a flying knee twenty seconds into the fight etc. We could do it like a tournament crowning champs every couple months or we could even do like a round robbin year long season where every so often leaders advance, kind of like the middleweight boxing tournament on showtime is doing it. I'd prefer virtual GPs especially if we only get 8 players or so which is what i'd expect.


Anyone ever played a league like this?

kinda sounds like the pick ems we already do ..

except you are adding 2 new elements on picking each fight by adding the round and the way the fighter wins as well.. which also means a lot harder / more work to run it..

to be honest .. this could still be done on the normal pickems we already have.. if you would want to do that we could just highlight the fighter you think will win (the normal) than put RD1-5 and TKO or w/e .. and I could make another belt for that specifically .. but you can do whatever you want... no reason for people to have to pick multiple pickems ..

Didn't read it all, just skimmed through. But is this just like the Fantasy MMA that UFC does at UFC.com? I have done that before.

This is pickem but way more interesting and would really test guys ability to figure out matchups.
