| http://www.rantrave.com/Rave/UFC-Trainer-To-Be-Released-January-2011.aspxThe Ultimate Fighting Championship has been a hugely successful Mixed Martial Arts fight series that has had tremendous support and excellent viewer ratings for all of its events live and on television and the video game series is doing just as well. With UFC Trainer being released in January 2011, the series will take another huge step forward. With a target audience of young men, the UFC titles released for xBox, Playstation3 or Wii have been a massively successful series for the games producers THQ Inc. In the style of most sports games, it is a title that can continue to be updated year after year with new fighters or stats from older fighters, and the graphics can be updated over and over again to take advantage of the PS3 or xBox or Wii console hardware. Part of the appeal of the new title is that it will take advantage of the Kinect or Wii motion controllers, and the player's movements will have a far greater impact on the outcome of the simulated fight. If you can't swing fast, you are going to have your punch blocked. If you can't dodge your head, your virtual fighter is going to get a black eye. Obviously, this is a more realistic fighting scenario, but more importantly in my mind, it means that the teenagers who are playing these games, will have at least some incentive to exercise properly, or will actually be forced into some exercise, simply by moving and jumping around in the game. And compared to sitting static on the couch, moving two thumbs, while their feet are kicked up on the foot stool, and they're laying back with their head on a pillow, compared to that, this game is a massive workout. | |
