| Trash Talk Heats Up Between Wanderlei Silva And Chael Sonnen http://www.fightline.com/fl/news/201...nderlei-silva/ UFC middleweight fighters Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva have been cultivating a rivalry for some time now, starting back when Silva called Sonnen out for comments he made during the promotion for his UFC 117 title fight against Anderson Silva that were generally negative towards the country of Brazil and some of its more notable fighters. The two have traded verbal jabs in the public media since, but things have recently ramped up, due to "The Axe Murderer's" recent recollection of a training session the two shared at the Xtreme Couture gym in Las Vegas. "Sonnen, he's more of a wrestler. I think that's a good fight for me, too," Silva said. "I trained with him one time at [Xtreme Couture] and I killed him there, you know? I think he's a good opponent too. He's tough." Sonnen took to his Twitter account recently to fire back at Silva, and offered a different take on their sparring session. "You killed who? I was taking it easy on you," he wrote. "Ya looked like Tammy Faye Baker. I went easy so that new face of yours wouldn't fall off." The outspoken Oregonian then fired off several insulting posts at Silva (including lines like: You are a walking punchline. Go fight what's left of Sakuraba in an alley behind a sushi place in Tokyo for 10 Yen apiece.), before warning the Brazilian MMA veteran not to engage him in a war of words. "So a word to the UNWISE. DON'T TALK ABOUT ME. You don't have the words, I DO," Sonnen posted. "You just got burried. Now run along or I'll do worse tomorrow." Silva and Sonnen were rumored to be in consideration for coaching positions on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter, but it appears as though Sonnen's current six month suspension (of which he has roughly three months left to complete) would prevent him from cornering his fighters in the state of Nevada, where the show is taped. While Sonnen waits out his suspension, Silva is rehabbing a knee injury for which he recently underwent corrective surgery. | |

| wandy has always had a punchers chance against anyone. mostly japanese cans however if the same sonnen that showed up agaisnt anderson, okami and nate shows up against wandy, it wandy will be on his back eating elbows and punches for 3 rounds even if he was in his prime. still wandy always has a punchers chance to rock sonnen and sub him. | |

| Sonnen sounds pretty defensive about this, a little, too defensive. Must be true. And Wand subs nobody, but Sonnen could easily be the first lol. I like where he says he burned him. Looks like the opposite and Sonnens describing the way it hurts him being burned. | |

| A lot of those Jap cans were well regarded at the time but unknown to American TUF fans who can't spell or even use punctuation. | |

RU including Sakuraba in the japanese can club? mezger was never a top lhw in the division. not a can but still not a top 5 guy. hendo i give you but we all saw what happend in the rematch. arona beat him twice we know this. still arona too never rose to the elite. and saku was a mw. wandy was fighting at 205 then why saku was fighting at mw. i give you page though as wandys best win to date although some like wolfy say that this wasnt the same page that ko'd chuck in 06 or went to war with hendo. im not discreditin wandy in anyway. im just sayin that although he was champ, he was a well protected one and many of us know this. plus he is still #4/#5 best lhw of the last decade in my book right under tito, chuck and others. this match looks alot better for sonnen.

| Why is everyone on Sonnen for responding to Wanderlei? Wanderlei opened his mouth first by claiming to have "killed" him in the gym. Also, as much as some of you want to see Wanderlei ko Sonnen, you know that wont happen. If anything, I can see Sonnen outboxing him if he chose to do so, but in all likelihood, taking him down and pounding on him. | |

| Wandy started talking shit to Sonnen when he badmouthed Brazil. I don't blame him for defending his country, and plus Wandy isn't doing anything that Sonnen won't do in calling someone out. All these people keep calling Wandy out why can't he call someone out. And plus me wanting Wandy to KO Sonnen has nothing to do with anything said between these two guys. I'm just not a fan of his and would love to see it. Wandy will probably armbar Sonnen and Sonnen will tap only to act like he didn't and complain | |

Mezger was the number 1 ranked LHW at one point and was top five when Wanderlei beat him. You've probably never seen the fight and can't name a top five from the year that bout went down. Also, Page KO'd Chuck in May of 07. Keep my name outch yo mouth.

Also, Page KO'd Chuck in May of 07. Keep my name outch yo mouth. ok maybe to me a top lhw is a guy who can be in the top 5/10 for several years and i guess at the time wandy fought him he was a top ten but still i would consider tito, frank, vitor,Matyushenko, hendo and babalu ahead of him in the division so no he wasnt in the top 5 at the time of thier fight. you say at one point guy was #1, when was this. as for the chuck comment, that was you who had mention in a previous thread that the page that ko'd chuck for the title and went to war with hendo was not the same page that got a beatdown by chute boxe back in pride. to me wandys wins over page were great for him and his biggest wins to date.
