At least eight of the 12 fighters on yesterday's (Dec. 13) Nemesis Fighting card were handed checks that bounced.

Coach Mike Winkeljohn, who is a lead coach along with Greg Jackson at Team Jackson/Winkeljohn in New Mexico, spoke about the problems with MMAWeekly Radio on Monday night.

“As far as I know none of the fighters got paid,” said Winkeljohn, who worked with fighters like Keith Jardine and John Dodson on the card. “I believe they all got handed checks, but the checking account bounced those checks. It did not have any money in it, so a lot of fraud involved and it’s real upsetting. It’s a black eye to the sport. They promise these guys one thing and do the other.”

Payment up front is going to be the new trend outside of the top promotions it seems.

It happened when I worked for a small sales company. We eventually went out of business.

Oh yeah. Called the Commission where it happened and left a message because they commissioner was on vacation. 2 days later he called me back and asked me what the bank fees were for the check bouncing and told me he'd get back to me later that day. He called back and told me the promoter would have a money order in the mail in the morning. About a week later I got it in the mail.

Well that's good. Sucks you had to do all that to get your money. Others have the same problem I assume?

Myself and 1 of the Doctor's. Everyone else had their check clear.
