Paul Daley wants KJ instead of Title shot?

I watched mmalive and they had Paul on and he said he'd rather fight a few times and build his fan base in SF fight KJ instead of getting a title shot. What do you guys think of that? Do you believe him or is he just trying to aviod Nick?

Also I wasn't even thinking about this fight being Scott Smith first at WW, that cut is gonna hurt. I'm still routing for him and I'm not changing my pick but damn that could really hurt him.

Yeah he did fight Nick at 180lbs, but cutting to 170lb will be much tougher to do.

Who would? SF HW belt has been a joke for years. MW Champ is just Champ by default because the real Champ left and they practically don't even have a WW division.

1)Smith was always a pretty small MW, I don't think the cut here will be all that damaging. Im actually pretty surprised that he is not being given more of a chance, not to mention how little hype this fight is getting. This is a can't miss slugfest.

2)I don't see why everyone thinks Noons does not belong at WW. Was a tough 5 rnd decision loss to Nick Diaz evidence of not belonging at that weight? Conversely he has not made the 155 limit for an MMA fight in 5 years.

3)Wolf is right, it's pretty comical how little these challengers care about fighting for the SF belt. Mayhem, Daley, Werdum, these guys are all looking at fights other then the title fight.

This is bad but a little good to. With diaz/miller it major drama, I want to see it, I don't really care about what happens with the WW title because I want to see that fight. The HW deal is still like there is no title really. Fedor vs Reem, Silva, Werdum, Barnett, I want to see it. Reem vs Silva, Werdum, Barnett, I want to see it. Silva vs Werdum again, Barnett I want to see it, Barnett vs Silva I want to see it. I want to see some god damned HW fights period, the belt finds it's way in where it can but it's relevance is secondary until fights start up.

Smith isn't that small. He used to be a LHW.

Werdum is scared and riding the biggest win he will ever know, Daley knows Diaz will whoop his ass, and Mayhem knows his title is safe with Jacare until he takes it. I understand why they are not concerned with title shots. That and only the LW belt has any meaning in SF imo.

I don't agree that KJ is too small for WW. Nick Diaz is just a pretty big WW in terms of length. I think Noons is too big for LW. He's the average heigth of a WW and he's never actually made 155. I can't name one fight Noons ever had at 155. Noons being a natural LW is a misconception. Noons should stay at WW and fight Paul Daley. He would cut up Paul Daley.

Daley vs KJ would be a great fight,, it'd really showcase how much better a boxer KJ is IMO. On Daley wanting Noons next, he shouldn't be looking past Smith, but I have no clue why he wouldn't want a Title shot if offered.

Champs clause, wants to get back to the UFC.

lol, champions clause my ass. Daley knows Diaz would bust his ass and is just simply unaware that KJ would bust his ass as well.

If Noons can be dropped by Diaz standing with Daley would be risky.

This is the kind of Scott Smith fight where he gets outboxed, beaten up and rocked through 2 and a half Rds, then KO's Daley.

Yeah we've established Nick is an excellent boxer at this point though, and anyone can really drop anyone, but in terms of boxing skills, KJ is far better then Daley.

I am not denying Noons has the better striking skills but his defense isn't outstanding, Daley certainly has the power to trouble him.

As for Smith it depends on how he makes the cut.

I don't think KJ has ever been finished, he does leave openings, but never gets horribly rocked, think he's a tough matchup for Daley. That's also a fight where for pts and to open up the striking KJ could get simple takedowns.
