| 10 straight years a golden glover, 10 straight years with 200+ hits, .331 career BA.
If he had played his whole career in the US, what would be saying about him? If he had played in a big market, what would we be saying about him? Greatest lead off ever? One of the greatest players ever?
All I know is he's a freak with a bat or glove, and if he'd played in the US for the first 7 years of his career he'd easily rank among the best...

| One of the great players ever for sure, not only is he a great hitter and has an amazing glove, but also a sick arm and is great on the bases. | |

| Yeah, I'm not sure calling him a five tool player does him justice... | |

| No way to know for sure. He's never had real health issues, so if you take his average over his US career and toss it on for an extra 7 years (Japan years), he'd be over 3,800. 3 more years on the same pace which isn't really slowing would put him almost dead even with Rose? One of the many woulda, coulda, shoulda's... | |

| Rose played 24 years which is a big reason his numbers are almost untouchable. His output was never consistently as good as Ichiro (Only had 200 hits 10 times total), but his longevity and hustle was amazing.
Ichiro will be a first balloter. Numbers are there, and the media doesn't hate him...

| I may get killed but he is alittle overrated to me. He bats lefty and has a ton of speed so he slaps and runs. How many of his hits are singles? He never helps his team reach the postseason and they are generally out of the race very early. Just playing alittle devils advocate here. | |

| Can't knock a guy for using his tools to be a HOFer. To answer your question, roughly 80% of his hits are singles. In comparison Rose was at about 75%. But his bat isn't where it ends. The glove, arm and speed are and always have been among the tops in the league. | |
