As for UFC 101, if you honestly believe that it was a solid PPV, you're outside your minds.
Honestly, I missed the first couple fights for that PPV though because BW3's was completely full and we had to wait for ppl to leave before we could get in. You didn't miss anything. Aside from the performances of Silva and Penn, that card was a major dissapointment. But you are being way too critical of the Nog Randy fight. It was an excellent fight. It just didn't need to go 5.

| Im saying the Nog/Couture fight was good. Im not saying it wasnt lol, I just dont think their standup was that great. Anybody that knows boxing would tell you their technique was terrible.
Again, it was a good and exciting fight so stop biting my head off please =)

| To be fair MMA boxing is different than true boxing because you have to worry about the clinch, takedowns, etc. Plus as we all know these guy don't just train punching and head movement. | |

Why is it silly? The fight was scheduled for 3. If you want to include co-main's in your argument that's fine(not that I agree, how many 5 round fights do you want on a card?) but the example is very fitting. But perhaps here's a better example. Cane vs Cantwell. Cane is much like Kampmann in that he is an established yet rising young fighter. Condit like Cantwell was a WEC champion and both are early in their UFC careers. AND the fights between Cane and Cantwell & Condit vs Cantwell were both tooth and nail battles. AND the names of all four fighters all start with the "K" sound. (and if im not mistaken Cane vs Cantwell was FON as well) So obviously there are tons of similarities. Yet you want the one, Condit vs Kampman to be 5 rounds, while Cane vs Cantwell only 3? Why cause one is headlinging a much smaller card on Spike while one is leading off a big time PPV event?

| Because I feel like there should be a line drawn somewhere. If you are a main event (co main included) then you should fight 5 instead of just 3. Titles are great, but seeing #2 vs #3(both former champs) in the world at a weight class should go more than just 3 rounds. [Franklin-Hendo incase you couldn't guess that example.] | |

| Title fights are five rounds. If all important fights went five then why have titles at all.
These are the words of Dana White to Sherdog.com Saturday night when he closed the book on five round UFC non-title fights forever.

but now your singling it down to a very specific situation(and was that fight at 185?), a situaion that does not include most other examples that you presented. I may actually agree that the PPV main events should all be 5 rounders(but I will not agree about the fight nights, at least not now in the current format where the fight nights are typically between lower ranked fighters), but I don't see Nog vs Randy as further evidence of that.
