| http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2010/11/3/1791108/brock-the-bully-former-champion-brock-lesnar-looks-for-easier-prey - Quote :
- Simply put, Brock is a bully. When backed into a corner his instinct isn't to take the hard path. It's to find prey he thinks he can conquer - and attack. Bryan Alvarez, editor of the Wrestling Observer's sister newsletter Figure Four Weekly, says Brock isn't looking to rematch Carwin or get a return bout with Velasquez. Instead, Lesnar reportedly has set his sights on Roy Nelson.
Now there's nothing wrong with Roy Nelson. He's a talented fighter, a mid-level heavyweight contender who is most famous for hiding a 205 pound potential champion inside a 265 pound rolly polly package. But isn't it a little odd for a former champion, the UFC's flagship fighter, to be challenging a guy who's best career win was against prospect Brendan Schaub? Nelson isn't a top-shelf contender. He's a guy who has fallen short time and again against the top level competition he's faced, including a recent beating incurred at the hands of heavyweight contender Junior dos Santos.
Contrast Lesnar's approach to the recently vanquished heavyweight kingpin Fedor Emelianenko. Fedor didn't respond to his loss to Fabricio Werdum by challenging Jeff Monson. He asked for a rematch with the man who made him tap:
"Certainly I would like to have a rematch with Fabricio. If he agrees, I would love to do that. The one who doesn't fall doesn't stand up. It happens that I was made kind of an idol. Everybody loses. That happens. I'm a normal human being, as are all of us. If it is God's will, the next fight I'll win."
So why is Lesnar challenging a fighter who isn't in the title hunt? Because he thinks it's easier. He thinks he can roll right over the fat kid - and he's probably right. But even asking for this fight shows plenty about Lesnar and where he is mentally. This isn't the confident move of a fighter on his way back up the ladder. This is the path of the bully, the more favorable route, and the mindset of a fighter still a little shell shocked after consecutive shellackings. L-O-L

| An article deserved to be written calling Brock a pussy for wanting to fight Roy Nelson who is a tougher opponent than what the UFC is trying to give him? Not surprising coming from you | |

Didn't see the word "pussy" in there anywhere. He is shell shocked, he is looking for an easy road. What is wrong with saying that?

| How is fighting Roy Nelson an easy road? Literally the only other person available for him to fight that would've satisfied whoever wrote this is Carwin, who just had back surgery yesterday. This article is retarded, that was my whole point | |

Not nearly as retarded as you make it sound. Your reaction to it is more over the top then the article itself.

| Well the writer got one thing right. Brock is a bully. Against inferior comp, the dude looks like the baddest man on the planet, against someone who can return fire, Brock turtles up and runs in terror.
but the writer gives Brock too much credit in expected him to run through Nelson. the shell shocked fighter he is writing about is by no means a sure thing in that fight.

Given that he thinks Brock would run through Nelson, I'm not sure that's accurate. Any knowledgeable fan would agree that it's a good next fight for Brock

Any knowledgeable fan would agree that it's a good next fight for Brock yeah good point, even in criticising Brock they are still delusional in their praise. Can't say it enough, but I think the Brock love that still remains is baffling.

The only fighter who is getting hated on at the expense of reason is Nelson, who would is a real MMA fighter. Nelson "falling short time and time again" consists of him getting job'd against Rothwell and Monson and losing to the two best strikers in UFC history at the top of their powers with JDS and AA.

I think Nelson is a good next opponent for Lesnar. Rank wise, Nelson is in the 15 to 10 range for me while Lesnar is at 10 to 5. It's not as drastic as the author suggested had Fedor called out Snowman after losing, that's a stretch. It seems like Nog, Mir or Nelson are really the only three logical(that's right I said logical, lol at me) fight for Brock to pick up. The Author is kind of dumb to think this is Lesnar being a bully, which I think irl he probably is a big asshole bully type of mentality, but that has no bearing here I think. I don't think Brock is throwing Nelsons name out there because he thinks that's his easiest path, rather maybe he realizes a fight with Nelson is more where he should actually be in terms of competition, on the back end of the top ten. I believe, like in Rockedober, a fair amount of pro fighters and people who cover MMA for a living would continue to pick against Brock to win, and primarily for reasons other than hate. The Author's point isn't lost though, it just shows how much he undervalues Nelson.
