The kid has nerve damage. His sister told me his left side of his face is numb and he may never regain usage of it. I heard that from others who have talked to his stepmom as well. Further, I saw him get home from the hospital today(I assume) and he looked like he had a stroke the way he was carrying his left arm and walking. I'm absolutely going to have to retain a lawyer now. I expect to be sued.

I don't know what or how to feel. The kid deserved the punch and I was legally justified, but this may alter his life forever. I'm not cool with that at all.

Wolf, if it was on your property and he instigated it, he shouldn't have too solid a case if he pursues legal action. At least here he wouldn't. I've seen quite a few similar situations get tossed out and the one's that didn't ended up in minimal probations and or community service.

and it just seems to get worse every minute. My wife called just now and said the clerk and a firemen there were talking about it, and the firemen said his jaw was not broken in two places but "shattered". I don't know if he was a responder or just a chatty cathy firemen. This is like, a movie where a guy gets a magic wish, and he gets exactly what he asks for, and regrets it. I had no intention at all of inflicting that level of damage. The fire station is around the block from my street

In the middle of typing this some firecrackers get lit up next to my shed right upside my window, black cat variety. I assume it's the teenagers next door. Cops on way. What was "really cool" yesterday has changed complexion entirely. I went from "teaching a punk a lesson" to "neighborhood drama with a kid I crippled" way too fast.
