Bautista thinks he's ready for MMA at 41...

He wants Strikeforce to sign him to a multi fight deal because at 41 he knows he has a short window. He wants a tune-up, Bobby Lashley, then a big PPV fight (SF has those?).

"My thing is I want to do a multi-fight deal," he said. "I want to have a guarantee of at least three fights. I want a tune-up fight, I want a big fight, and I want a pay-per-view fight."

He's a solid athlete, but does anyone know if he has any realy tools to make him even semi successful in MMA?

He'd lose to Kimbo or Walker badly. Lashley's contract has expired and SF is not really that interested in resigning him. Batista would only be signed if Lashley gets resigned. Neither looks likely.

I have no idea what the guy has done other than act on TV in a ring. I mean, has he ever competed or trained in any real combat sport at all? If he's relying on his TV wrestling I would love to see him against any HW in Strikeforce... He'd likely never get the win to face Lashley for a second fight.

There is no illusion here. He'd fight Lashley in his first and only fight as a purely freakshow/WWE type attraction. Lesnar converts would pay for it. We wouldn't. Bankable freakshows are a part of MMA. That said, SF has really limited interest in this fight.

So, this is nothing more than a ratings ploy? I thought for the guy to be making an attempt, he must have some skills to be serious about. But it sounds like he's just a WWE name that they hope they can make some cash with. Hell, I'm sorry I gave it a thread now. I apologize guys...

I'd be interested enough to watch. Freakshows have their entertainment value too.

He has no martial arts backround of any kind, just a big guy who wrestled in the WWE for years.

exactly word is SF not interested in re signing lashley and wouldnt bank on another wwe star at this point let alone at 41 yrs old.
