The IBF order a rematch between Yhonny Perez and Joseph Agbeko

• Although promoter Gary Shaw would prefer to make a rematch between bantamweight titlist Yonnhy Perez and Golden Boy-promoted Abner Mares, who fought to a spirited draw on May 22, Perez's next fight will be a rematch with former titlist Joseph Agbeko. Shaw told ESPN.com that the IBF sent him a letter ordering him to begin negotiating the fight with Agbeko, the leading available contender, in order to satisfy Perez's mandatory obligation. Perez outpointed Agbeko in October in a slugfest to win the 118-pound belt. Shaw said he anticipates the bout taking place in October or November as a Showtime opening bout with junior bantamweight champion Vic Darchinyan in the main event. Shaw said he had hoped to put on a doubleheader featuring Darchinyan and Rafael Marquez in separate bouts, but it couldn't be done because of the budget available.

Is Vic done with Super Flyweight or is he just looking for big fights at Bantamweight.

That would be sweeeeet if that happened.

Both make sense

Put the Armenians together, Vic and Abe in So Cal would draw a nice crowd at the Home Depot Center

Or the Mexicano, Rafa, draws the Mexicanos, and Abe brings in the Armenians

And it solves the venue beef between Sauerland and Mick

Perez should win again, I really want to see Perez vs Mares again, I thought Mares won the first fight!

Well I disagree with poster that said the IBF is doing something good. I saw him clearly beat Agbeko 8 rounds to 4. Mares should of gotten the nod, I had mares up 7-5 as did many. Perez didn't deserve a draw and clearly Mares deserves another title shot. It would be nice if Mares vs Darchinyan happend as the headliner with Perez vs Agbeko in the undercard.

it is the wrong rematch!!!!!!!! It should be Perez and Mares, not Perez and Agbeko. That was a competitive fight that Perez won. Perez vs. Mares is the one that left me wanting more (and alot of disagreement with the judges).

Wasn't the first Perez vs Agebko fight pretty good ?

Perez vs. Agbeko was a pretty good fight.

The problems I have with a rematch are: 1-Agbeko has done nothing to deserve a rematch (he clearly lost), 2-Mares deserves a rematch(that was a controversial decision).

I am not really bothered because Mares is still pretty young, that rematch will happen eventually.
