Rafael Marquez vs Vic Darchinyan could happen as early as August

Rafael Marquez was on point in Saturday's clash against Israel Vazquez. The fourth fight between the two Mexican warriors saw Marquez pound Vazquez for three rounds before the ref jumped in to stop the action at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

The next bout for Marquez could be a fight against IBO bantamweight champion Vic Darchinyan. A few weeks ago promoter Gary Shaw, who handles both Darchinyan and Marquez, told BoxingScene.com that Darchinyan was demanding a shot at the Marquez-Vazquez winner in August.

"Vic Darchinyan really wants the winner of Vazquez-Marquez," Shaw told BoxingScene.com.

After his big win, Marquez said a fight with Darchinyan could be the next move, which means Shaw must have already approached him about the fight. Darchinyan is still the WBC/WBA super flyweight champion and only recently moved up bantamweight to capture a title. He would take a huge risk by moving up from 118 to 126-pounds for Marquez.

"I have to speak with my promoter Gary Shaw but Darchinyan might be next," Marquez said.

I think Marquez beats Vic but I wouldnt mind seeing them fight.

i dont think that its even close. vic is way too small and hasnt brought his power up very well. i just cant see vic even having a chance.
