Olympic luger dies from crash in practice

VANCOUVER, British Columbia(AP)—A men’s Olympic luger from the country of Georgia died Friday after a high-speed crash during training. IOC president Jacques Rogge said the death hours before the opening ceremony “clearly casts a shadow over these games.”

didn't they remove luge from the regular X Games awhile back because it was so dangerous?

Yeah I saw this on ESPN, sad, dangerous event for sure, the country of Georgia might pull out of the Olympics all together.

I read how it happened, fucked up. He went off the track airborn into a unpaded pole estimated at 90+ mph. Damn.

They said over a dozen wrecks in practice already for luge. Some people say the course is too fast. This event might not happen this year.

Just watched footage of the crash, just brutal. What a horrible way to go.

Yeah it was terrible. Going that fast and hitting a pole , he never had a chance.
