| i don't see how this could work myself. even if they had a european division, all the european teams would have 5 road games in the US. 10 long haul flights in a relatively short period would be brutal to deal with for some players and staff.
plus, i don't think the teams would get the local support the NFL envisages, american football is a sport of minority interest here. There's a certain hardcore of fans which mostly dates back to the 80's when we first started getting the game on TV, but i don't see too many of them abandoning their favourite teams to support an expansion franchise with a roster of unwanted players from other teams. i think they are even less likely to jump on board if the NFL moves a shitty team like the jags to europe, with their roster that's just as shit as a team built in an expansion draft and such an obviously shit front office ensuring they will remain a shitty team for the forseeable future. | |
