Following last night’s surprise turnaround by Microsoft concerning the Xbox One’s DRM measures, many gamers have been asking about two things: Will there be a price cut and will we be able to buy an Xbox One without Kinect?
The answer to both questions is no.
When quizzed about a possible price drop, Xbox Chief Product Officer Marc Whitten said, "We really believe deeply in the value that we're delivering. Not just for the first day of launch, which we think is going to be amazing, with amazing games and entertainment experiences, but what this architecture can deliver over the long term. We feel good about our price."
Meanwhile, when asked about the possibility of a cheaper Xbox One that does not include Kinect, Whitten said, "We still absolutely believe in Kinect. It's a core part of the architecture.”
“Frankly, it's really critical that you build it as something that's always there, always part of the platform. So that game creators, experience creators can know they can rely on it. And you, the user, that there's always a consistent experience. That it's not just an accessory
I loved the 360 but the future for me is still PS4. I can't afford the current Xbox One180 SKU and I will not be forced into buying Kinect.

Why do people care about Kinect so much? There is a Xbox One controller that comes in the package too that I'll be using 95% of the time.

Most people don't care about Kinect that's the problem. I really don't see why Microsoft can't just release an SKU without it. Sony are sensible enough to sell their camera seperate.
I mean they've just shown that DRM and those silly online features could be turned off so it's not like they can't alter the console.

I personally bought the old camera for the 360 to play UNO on Live with friends etc. Never got the new one cause the camera I have does all I need but with this new one I will use it for the same thing Skype, Gamer Photo, Pic messages etc. I'm not scared of the Kinect it will just sit there and be a camera for me.

Hey that's fine I have no problem with people who like it I personally just have no interest in Kinect. I am not going to be conned into buying it I just want to play games traditionally and use a controller.
It's the fact they've made it a mandatory requirement that baffles me. I don't see why it needs to be plugged in constantly.

They aren't really conning me Ali they are giving me a free camera in the package lol.
Microsoft has confirmed to IGN that Xbox One will not come bundled with a headset, as per Xbox 360 tradition. Instead, Microsoft points to Kinect's "highly sensitive multi-array microphones designed to enable voice inputs and chat as a system-level capability, both in-game and with Skype and other experiences."
If you want a standard Microsoft Xbox One headset (which Microsoft calls "a must-have," ironically), you'll have to purchase it separately. Additionally, Turtle Beach headsets and Polk headphones will be available following the console's launch. For context, Sony doesn't default to packing a headset with PlayStation hardware, but the PlayStation 4 is bundling a mono earpiece and mic.

Good for X-boxers.. you had to know they were going to back off on those 2 things..
I think for me now, the most is the Price Point difference.. but either way this does make it more even .. I do know that my Girl would actually like/ find a use for Kinect2..
it is looking like Kinect2 is > Ps4eye (though eye should still be good)
