Gunnar Nelson hurt, replaced by Rick Story vs Mike Pyle at 160

Not really as far as the division in concerned. Santiago was making his WW debut i believe. Pyle has won 6 of his last 7. Last 3 in the first round.

Mike Pyle is 7-3 in the UFC.

Jorge is 0-5.

Sure Jorge's got a poor UFC record but look at who's beaten him Maia, Stann, Leben and Belcher I mean those aren't exactly bums.

Can't you say the same thing about Mike Pyle who only lost to Ellenberger, Rory, and Larson?

I'm sure Jorge could compile a 7-3 UFC record with Pyle's level of competition but as far as the UFC is concerned it's a step forward.

True. I was just expecting someone a little more challenging, you're right though it's better not to rush Gunnar.

Maybe they are taking the Rory route with him. If he beats Mike Pyle convincingly, he'll get a co-main event slot against the best WW nobody knows about...Che Mills.

I really do think if Gunnar is taking slowing through the division like Jon Jones was or Rory is now he will be a champion or atleast be the #2 guy behind Rory post-GSP.

Pyle is a pretty rough matchup for Gunnar at this point. I like the fight. Stern test style wise but winnable

I agree. I figured either Pierce or Pyle would be next for Gunnar.

That's a pretty good fight. Pyle has been overachieving almost, looking very good.

Like it, i see a definitely see a finish outcome.

Solid replacement. Glad it happened now and not closer to the fight. Story should have time for decent camp still.
