Antonio Banuelos (20- has signed with Legacy Fighting Championship and will debut for the promotion at Legacy FC 14 next month.

With Rafael De Freitas (5-0) out with an injury, the former UFC and WEC fighter will meet Josh Sampo (7-2) in the co-main event. Legacy promoter Mick Maynard on Tuesday confirmed the news to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

Legacy FC 14 takes place Sept. 14 at Houston's Arena Theater, and the main card airs on AXS TV (formerly HDNet).

Banuelos, who makes his flyweight debut, has not fought since a December loss to Bibiano Fernandes in the DREAM bantamweight grand prix finals. Earlier that night, he won his semifinal bout by split decision against Masakazu Imanari. But against Fernandes, he was stopped with a TKO 81 seconds into the fight.

Banuelos, who trains at the esteemed Pit with John Hackleman in California, went 9-5 in the WEC before coming to the UFC in the merger of the two promotions. But in his lone UFC fight, he was outpointed by Miguel Torres at UFC 126 and released.

Sampo comes into the fight with four wins in his past five outings. The Missouri native started his career 3-0 and has four of his seven wins by submission. He is coming off a first-round kimura submission of Carson Gainey in a regional event in Missouri.

Legacy FC 14 includes a welterweight title fight between champion Jorge "Macaco" Patino (27-13-1) and challenger Jeff Rexroad (5-1).

Additionally, NCAA Division I national wrestling champion Darrion Caldwell and MTV "Caged" star Matt "Danger" Schnell are expected to make their pro debuts in separate bouts.

The fight card is taking shape for Legacy Fighting Championship's next major show.

Legacy FC 15 takes place Nov. 16 at Houston's Arena Theater, and the main card live on AXS TV.

In addition to a title fight for the vacant middleweight championship, Legacy FC 15 features the returns of jiu-jitsu ace Robert Drysdale and MTV "Caged" star Matt Schnell.

As previously reported, William "Bubba" Bush (4-2) and undefeated Texan Noel Ligon (5-0) meet for the vacant middleweight title, which previously was held by Andrew Craig, who now fights in the UFC. Bush, whose two losses have come in fairly controversial fashion, meets the surging Ligon, who recently earned a win over onetime Strikeforce fighter Artenas Young.

In the co-headliner, Drysdale (4-0), a world champion grappler, looks to build off his promotional-debut win over Isaac Villanueva in July. He meets Chris Reed (4-1), a Legacy FC newcomer with three knockouts in four career wins.

Other bouts include bantamweights Angel Huerta (5-1) vs. Saul Elizondo (5-2), lightweights Ray Blodget (7-1) vs. Carlos Diego (5-0), and welterweights Charlie Ontiveros (2-0) vs. Rashon Lewis (2-2). Additionally, welterweight Alex Cisne (5-2) meets an opponent to be announced.

Finally, following a close split-decision win over Ryan Hollis in his pro debut this past weekend, "Danger" Schnell (1-0) takes of fellow flyweight Marcus Dupar (2-1), who recently submitted Bobby Powers in his Legacy debut and now looks for his third straight victory.
