Any different idea's on a pet I should get for the pad?

I don't have the time needed to own a dog. It wouldn't be fair now, even though I plan on getting one when I work less later in life. Probably a Greman Shepard when it's time. I don't like cats much and birds make too much noise. I don't want to clean a tank either so fish are out. I have had python's and and many different lizards in my life and they get boring also. I need to get a pet though. No mice or hamsters, etc. I kill a few mice each month anyways in this farm town I live in. I don't want to see them in a tank.

Any of you got a good idea on something that would be fun for myself and the kids. If it is cool enough I don't mind cleaning up after it. Fish just aren't my thing either. Shed your light on me people....

We saw this guy walking some kind of African Tortoise down the street downtown after a Riverbats game last month. We pulled over so my son could see it. The thing was 70 lbs and they live forever. good thought but I don't know?

You don't want something that's going to outlive you, some tortoises can live to over 100 years old. My best suggestion is either a ferret(except they kind of smell) or a Chameleon. I used to have a veiled chameleon and he was cool as shit.

besides I've had snakes. I did want a ferret pretty bad when I was younger.
